Do you mean undercabinet lighting with switch under the upper cabinet vs. in the lower cabinet under the counter? My undercabinet lights have a switch in the unit and I have a wall switch on a wall without backsplash. However the lighting in my glass cabinets has a tap switch that is under the upper cabinetry.

Yes, I saw a switch under the upper cabinet with a picture of plug mold. I see that my question is worded wrong: it should been whether I could put a switch under the upper cabinet to control the under cabinet lights! (I'm so fixated on "The Counter Question" that it's on my brain.) I want anything I can to get switches off the walls!

Depending on what type of UC lights you'll have, they may have a switch on them. Having another one next to it would seem unnecessary to me. If you want to have a separate switch to maybe turn all UC lights on, I'd put it in a different place. Again, this would be only if the fixture itself come with a switch.

It uses a low-profile junction box made by Wiremold, the same company that makes Plugmold.

Here's what my undercabinet light switch looks like - the round black thing at the top of the picture - and you can see there's a switch on the UCL fixture also.

Gibby - you've done your plugmold exactly like we are planning on. I'm also planning on a few light switches being under my upper cabinets. I like how small and low profile your round switch is - can you tell me who makes it? Thanks!

My UC lights are wired so they don't have switches on them. Because the UC light is so great I always turn them on when I'm going to be working in the kitchen. I stupidly put the switches for them on the wall space between the uppers and lowers so now when I turn on the lights in the kitchen I have to make 3 stops - one for the overheads and one each on each of the cabinet walls. I really wish I had put them by the main light switches.
