Does anyone have a picture of Paradise or Kordes Perfecta?
Comments (2)I don't have Paradise, but do have Kordes Perfecta - these pictures are from two years ago though - my poor Kordes is dying ... I had such hope for it after a bad year last year when I saw tons of new basals this spring, but they all mysteriously died and now I'm left with a one cane wonder - that might also die. Anyway - here are my Kordes Perfecta pictures - hope this helps. Aprille...See MoreTwo Questions about Ballard Design
Comments (13)I've dealt with Ballard a lot, so here's my take on it. I've never had a customer service problem. I have been very happy with the mirrors I have bought, strictly from a design perspective. The "terrific tables" and glass tops are very good to fill in, although I prefer to use my own fabrics for cloths. I have never been entirely pleased with the quality of their fabrics. They have been either stiff and clunky, or gauzy and insubstantial on more than one occasion. The colors are not as clear and pretty as I'd like, which is a mark of cheap dyes. Some of the purely decorative things are nice additions to a scheme, but be careful of things that are a little over-designed...an extra curlicue, too much trim, that sort of thing. Some of the whimsical useful things are charming, and some are a little silly. I have not bought case goods from them - I find their version of traditional forms a little heavy and awkwardly proportioned - and have heard from others that they are probably not as sturdy as they might be for the cost. So I would say this...look very carefully at the pictures in the catalogue. You can see that some of their knock-off designs are more successful than others. Lots of good designers use their things to complete a look for a fairly small price....See MoreDoes this Ballard light look right? lots of PICS
Comments (13)The fixture is gorgeous.. love the metal leaves and the crystals! It's a great combination. Are you sure it is supposed to have a globe or cover? I am having a hard time imagining how it would work with the crystals in there too. I could be wayyyyy off base (it's happened before heh) but I think the openness is part of the design. I would not want my bulbs and wires etc to show-- but is it possible that you are looking at it too closely when you see the bulbs and works? We all do that--look at stuff way more closely than others would. I'd do a test.. stay away from it for awhile then walk back in the door-- do you see it right away? Is it the first thing you notice? What about others? Is it still as obvious now that the sun has set? It is a lovely light-- a great combo of materials-- but if you aren't happy with it, it's going to nag you everytime you walk in that door. Send end it back....See MoreThe Ballard console is here and now I need help...
Comments (44)Wow, I just came back from an overnight trip and it looks like I missed a lot while I was gone! Sable ca- I have seen samples of the Bosporus toile that has fall colors only - red, green, gold - no blue. It's called Bosporus Red and got confused when you mentioned Bosporus Brick. Back to the console: Spring-meadow - while I don't like the air vent where it is either it is impossible for us to move the air vent. Unfortunately, it has to stay where it is :(. Also, I think the vent is overemphasized in the photos. The only part of the vent that is really bothersome to me is the top 4 inches. If I could have gotten a taller console I would have, but most consoles are 30" in height. I thought I was doing well with one 33" tall. It is possible to find real wrought iron consoles that are 36" or taller, but none are at my price point. I liked this console specifically because of 1) the shape of the scrolls and 2) I thought the shelving would be nice for a kitchen area. The only part that is bothersome to me is the top 4 inches of the vent sticking out form behind the console. I am very content to camouflage the top with greenery, candlesticks, cookbooks, a runner - whatever. You guys have given me some great suggestions so far - things I would not have thought of! So here is where I'm at. The wall and vent will get painted teh same color. The art work will probably stay, but I promise to lower it :). That specific lamp will return to its home on the ledge above my sink. I may put a similar lamp there - I'm still debating between that or candlesticks. I agree that the fabric is too busy - I like the idea of a runner, but I will probably go for a solid color. Brownysmom - I like your idea of how to fill the footed bowl, though I think that specific bowl may be too small for the console. I also like the idea of the white jugs. All in all, I think you guys have given me some great ideas. I'll post again as soon as I have something worthwhile to show you. BTW, I thought she did a good job with the gap between her console and artwork......See Morebestyears
