Advice on new Carrier/Bryant furnace and AC system

I am in need of a new furnace and AC system for my 3200 sf home (not including finished and conditioned basement of another approximately 1400 sf) in the Chicago area. I have received several quotes, all from well known and respected installers, on Trane, Lennox and Carrier systems. Looking for advise/thoughts on the following quote:

Carrier Infinity 80 two stage vaiable speed blower

Bryant Evolution AC Model 598B (2 speed), 5 ton, new R410a lines

Infinity controller

new coil (model # escapes me at the moment)

Quote is $9849 and told that Bryant offers a $1000 rebate ending 12/31 to make the net cost $8849

I realize that the Evolution model is a bit old but installer claims that the 2-speed system will really help with the humid summers in Chicago and claims that it is, overall, a better unit than the newer Comfort 14 since the SEER ratings will be equal when paired with the variable speed blower and Infinity control and since it is a 2-speed unit.

The cost after rebate on the system with the Evolution model is $300 less than a similar quote for the Infinity 80 and Comfort 14 model (which is a single speed unit).

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much.

Jeff
