Found.....and still lost!

Some of you may remember that in early November I lost a couple of rubber stamps that I bought, planning to use them for Christmas cards. I finally found them Christmas Eve! Now, it I could find the heat gun that went missing two weeks before Christmas, and the brand new pair of North Face gloves that were only worn once, while putting up Christmas lights........Oh, and the pair of socks I've been knitting have also disappeared, from the same place I put the gloves when I took them off!

LOL! I'm looking for a T-shirt I bought for DH. He has never worn it. I know I washed it so that he could wear it but have not seen it since it went into the washer!
I think it's aliens stealing our stuff!!!

Is my lawn a lost cause or is there still hope?

Here's a new link in case the Photobucket link is not working: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50788319@N06/sets/72157635419567072/ Haha no, I'm definitely not trying to get the backyard of the month award! Again, my front yard is a different story, but I'll take care of it next year ;) Deep and infrequent watering sounds great and it's something I can definitely manage. I've seen tons of turbo oscillators in my local store as well as online so I'll get one of those. Alfalfa pellets are available online but they sell them in small packages. It would be much easier for me to just get a lawn fertilizer instead of animal food. We have tons of choices here and they're all available online, plus overnight shipping is the standard method of shipping here (perks of living in a smaller country ;) so it's really convenient. Temperatures have now dropped to 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit, there may be 75 degrees on hotter days. Do you think it's a good time to overseed now or should I wait until temperatures drop even more? Now, as for the grass seed choice, I'm still not sure which mix I should go with... I don't have full sun all day. The main area of my lawn is in sun a lot (I'd say around 5 hours or more) and it's dry and spotty now. But there are also areas which are in shade most of the day, and they're greener and thicker than the rest of the lawn. By the way, if you check out my photos, there is one picture in which you can see the shaded areas and the areas that are in sun a lot. Here are the mixes I considered - I'm posting them in English instead of Latin. They're offered by Barenbrug - it's a well-renowned European company, something like Scotts in the US. I'd love a thick, dark-green lawn. I've seen a lot of those in Pennsylvania but I'm not sure if it's possible to get that color in my climate. Most lawns around here are pale-green and "wimpy", just like mine. Super Sport - their aggressive, durable mix, seems like a good choice but I'm scared of the maintenance. 43,00% Kentucky Bluegrass 29,00% Perennial Ryegrass 18,00% Creeping red fescue (fine fescue) 10,00% Chewings fescue (fine fescue) Exclusor - their "premium" mix, which supposedly looks really good. 50% Slender creeping red fescue (fine fescue) 30,00% Perennial Ryegrass 20,00% Chewings fescue (fine fescue) Water Saver - little watering required 80,00% Tall fescue 10,00% Perennial Ryegrass 10,00% Kentucky Bluegrass

Still lost re hooking up filter to pump
Q
Comments (4)
What model of Savio Bio-filter do you have? The basic arrangement for a pump and filter is that the pump goes under water at one end of the pond and has a hose run from it to the filter on shore at the other end of the pond. The water is drawn into the pump and pumped from it, through the required length of hose, to the filter and from filter it returns via a waterfall or stream etc, back into the pond. The hose can be run around the perimeter of the pond and buried into the soil or just run across the bottom of the pond, if you wish, that's up to you. As far as hose clamps go, you may need one at every hose connection, i.e. one where the hose connects to the pump and another where the other end of the hose connects to the filter. Since we do not know how you intend to return the water to the pond at this point, that would seem to be the extent of the number of hose clamps required at this juncture? "Horton"

Boxwood lost its bark over the winter, still green
Q

bark is a protective covering.. say like a catchers shin guards ... its the green cambian layer just below the bark .. where the fluids move thru the plant that is important .... perhaps not scientific.. but thats how i think of it.. w/o pics.. its hard to give you any further opinion ... if you dont remove .. or properly prune out the damaged branches.. dont you think this winter is going to be worse on the structure of the plant??? it was a neat experience to observe how your plant responded to the insult.. but you might want to become proactive regarding its future health ... since it pretty late in the season for aggressive pruning.. you might want to get an opinion on proper timing of major surgery ... ken

My husband just lost his dad
Q
Comments (4)
I have been trying to help my husband. He hasn't shown any grief since the day he had to see his father's body at the funeral home. At the funeral he was the only dry-eyed person. I have been doing everything around the house, and anything I can think of to make things easier on him. But I am about ready to snap. NOt at him but at the insensitivity of other people. It is crazy. First, the my FIL's sister (in her 50's) posted an invite to his funeral on facebook. It was supposed to be a private family graveside service because my husband's mother is in a very fragile state right now. It was such a shock and she is not doing well. So two days before the funeral it is found out that his family now has to get together enough food to feed about 50 ppl because my FIL's sister invited all these people to the service and get together afterward. They did NOT need the extra stress of having to do this!! And a simple thing- my parents decided to send flowers my MIL's house even though they really don't know her. My mother asked ME to send them (because I could pick out something she'd like I guess) so I called a local florist and asked that the flowers be delivered to the house on the day of the funeral. The florist calls me back the day of the funeral to say they couldn't get the flowers I wanted in that day so they would be delivered the next day. I didn't want to argue so I said ok. There are more important things. But then I get another call that evening saying the flowers wouldnt' be delivered until TWO days after the funeral. I spoke with the owner who was VERY rude. When I said the flowers were for a funeral he corrected me and said "No they are not for a funeral, they are being delivered to a home address." Yes, dumbass but they have a sympathy card with them. He then asked what the address was even though I'd already given it to the person who took the order previously. He went on to say it wasn't his fault (I wasn't even upset at this point) that his supplier was late and all he could do was have me select another arrangement and he "Might" be able to deliver it by the next day. I found another florist and called him back and asked him to cancel the order. He said he'd already made arrangements to get the flowers I needed (still two days late) and I told him I just wanted to cancel the order please and he said whatever and hung up on me!! Stupid, but I just broke down crying. And at the service, the strangest thing was that my MIL did not want to watch her husband's urn be buried in the dirt (her kids and grandkids wanted to watch) and I definately don't blame her. She is still thinking of him as a person who is alive or has characteristics of being alive and to see that would just kill me. She started bawling and told everyone she had to get out of there and NOT one of her kids escorted her away. MY FIL's sister who posted the thing on facebook took her away. It also seems that my MIL does not want to hear any good things about her husband from anyone. SHe is very angry toward him (probably for leaving her alone) and if anything nice is said she gets mad. So I say nothing. I just don't know what to do.

Susan, laugh all you want! The thing is, with the socks, I just had them Thurs evening! We have a built in desk in the kitchen, just inside the door. It's not used as a desk, just a catch all for purse, gloves, hats, my take a long knitting, ect. When I came in from helping put up lights, that's where the gloves went. When I came in Thurs evening, that's where the knitting went. As that's usually what goes with me, that's usually where the socks stay.

Mush, hope you find his shirt! So far, I've been lucky that way.

You make me so happy because I think I'm only half as bad as you are. This I know...... It all turns up eventually. Usually when you're looking for something else. I was missing three pieces of good jewelry and began to think I took them with me when we went on vacation and left them in the room. Deep down I knew that wasn't true but I cleaned out my jewelry boxes and my dresser drawers and didn't know where else to look. Since then, I found two of the pieces and really hold out hope for the third so no more losing sleep over it.

I know the feeling! DD went to TX for 5 days during Christmas. She called to tell me she forgot to get her rings and a necklace and asked me to put it in a safe place. She asked me yesterday for the jewelry and I found the rings but not the necklace.Things have a way of walking off around here sometimes with 2 1/2 year old twins running around and she was heartbroken because it was a gift from her DD.I told her I remember putting it in a "safe" place but couldn't remember where.I turned my room upside down, went through every drawer, etc.Couldn't find it anywhere! Later I was sitting on the side of the bed trying to remember what I did with it and spotted the bottle of Anacin sitting on my night stand.Opened it and there the necklace was, wrapped in a piece of foil from a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup that I was eating when DD called and asked me to put her jewelry up! Nothing wrong with me.It's that old lady and I think one of her friends! LOL

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sick of going to get something that I *know* was in a certain spot, finding it not there, and a few minutes later, there it sits. Poltergeists have a field day with me.

And I just bought a couple things the other day, saw them yesterday, but they're gone today. They're messing with my mind again.

My husbamd lost his wallet about 2 weeks ago. He thinks it's somewhere in our house. It's not the money ($135) he's upset about, it's all his identification. He got a new Medicare card (easy-over the phone) but he called his bank and they froze our joint checking account. They need to mail us new ATM cards. He can't get a new drivers license because they want a credit card for online transactions. And of course his only credit card was his ATM card. I'm cetain that after all his ID is reconstructed, we will find that darned wallet. Somewhere. In the house. Which I turned upside-down already. That plus Christmas.

Well, the socks turned up. That old lady is definitly here! I had tqaken a tote bag of stuff to DD's for New Years Eve, including the socks to work on. We started playing cards, so nothing was taken out of the tote bag. I went to get something out of it yesterday, and there were the socks. Now if the rest of the stuff would just turn up...Oh, I did find the flash drive I was looking for with the KT card exchange list on it when I cleaned off my desk and reorganized it yesterday. It had been pushed way back and got underneath some stuff that I don't usually use.

Jannie, hope that wallet turns up soon.

Cynic, that's usually what happens here, but this last couple of months, things are staying gone. The rubber stamps had been missing for two months!

That old lady is in this house, too, and she is obsessed w/ my cell phone. She just doesn't think about this being THE phone since we don't have a land line. I wish she'd just leave it alone--where ever that is!

tami i'm in a worse pickle than that...our beloved christmas stockings are gone...i'd left the sack (garbage kind) out while i looked for a replacement for sil...the only thing i can imagine is dh picked them up thinking it was garbage and tossed all 18 of them! 4 were hand made for my kids when they were little and were 30+ years old...

the idea of having to replace them is heart-breaking...each were chosen with the person in mind...

i'd gladly lend you my glue gun to have them back, sigh...

At our house it's That Old Man!

DH asked me to tear out a Part D policy membership card from the letter it came on -- so he could put it in his wallet. I broke it out and put it down on our breakfast bar in front of him. That was two days ago.

Guess what? It's NOT in his wallet...and neither is his Border's membership card. "What's in YOUR wallet?" Hah-hah!

Neither of these cards is ANYWHERE in the house, the car, the recycling, the garbage...vanished!

Well, I found the heat gun in the basement today on one of cutting/weaving table. What it was doing down there, I have no clue! All my rubber stamping is done upstairs. But at least that's one more thing found. I "think" the only thing I'm still missing is the gloves.

I hope all of you who are missing things find the VERY soon!
