Get some of the Clorox wipes travel packs too! I use them on the plane to wipe down arms, trays, etc. Won't travel without them!

Hi Ann. Thanks for the positive feedback! I haven't added a watering system, but the back yard is easy to water, and the upper garden isn't so bad now. I had used an oscillating sprinkler for the first couple of months to get the new plants established, but the rain has been sufficient since then and they're all doing fine. The dry garden out front is just that, partly because it is always hot and sunny there, and partly because I'm too lazy to pull the hose out from the back! How is your cactus doing? If you want to add interest to a flat lot, you can always create a mound or a 'berm' as they're called. I've also seen low walls created (usually curved or S-shaped for interest) and then have soil mounded against one side to create a slope. Meanwhile, if the wall side faces south or southeast, you could nestle more tender perennials there for protection.

Thanks for the responses. Since we're going there next week, we will wait to do a walk through before we pay the last bill. I guess the office manager just sent the invoice either because she was told to or to give us a heads up. My hope is that there is not much that needs finishing/fixing. When we were there in November, I did a pretty extensive list with pictures of things that needed attention. According to the builder, my list will be completed, this week. I think we should have a home inspector, but aren't sure how to find one. We asked our neighbor who runs a real estate office, but she didn't have any recommendations. Time for the Yellow Pages? DH wants me to drop the idea of getting credit for the window seat so we don't put a fly in the ointment for the clear cut failure to give us the colored concrete that was in the contract. I guess I'll agree to keep the peace (w/ DH). We can always put one in, later, if I still want it. I just looked at the contract more closely and the final payment isn't due until we have a CO. And, there is a clause for money to be held back for mutually agreed to items that are incomplete. I guess I just answered my own questions. I did think it odd to get the invoice before all of the work is completed, we have a CO or we've done the final walkthrough. I'm tired of being the "Homeowners from Hell" and creating problems that the builder has never encountered, before. It's in my nature to expect way more documentation and precision than is typical for construction (or so we're told). It is a beautiful house that we expect to enjoy for many years, God willing. Time to move on & not worry about each tiny thing that is either owed us or could have been better. It's time to appreciate what we are so blessed to have accomplished. I bought a pair of champagne flutes to take with us to celebrate. I plan to have them inscribed with the date and the house's name when we finally figure it out. robin - our house is in Travelers Rest just north of Greenville. I think we will live with it for a bit before we decide. White concrete in TX is a bear because there is so much sunlight & heat to reflect. It may not be as bad at our wooded, SC lot.

I'm just as bad - put my tree up Sunday night while watching Desperate Housewives. Tried all the lights before they went on the tree, all worked fine. Strung them all, plugged it in and only a small set at the top and the bottom row work. 2/3 of the tree is in darkness and there it sits...haven't got motivated to take all those darn lights off yet. Bk I assume you are working w/an architect - Agree that you are on the right path with nailing down this last part of the design - I live in an old colonial and have only a powder room downstairs it is the worlds tiniest! That said, I also know it is the most used in the house I understand kids/stuff issue - My solution (because we also have a tiny mud area) - was to have a cubby for each child in the basement - regardless of the size of mud area/cubby it will be filled - typically with things that may be out of season - so the 2nd area (basement) has been helpful in the kid/organization - Just a thought - Also each time you remove a wall you are increasing budget I'd see if another solution can be found 4 mos for a project of this scope seems to be quite aggressive to me. We were 6 mos out of our house & the scope was not as large - I had GC, subs, KD and was on top of everything - still took 6 mos. Are cabinets ordered? appliances, windows, fixtures? granite ideas etc.... I don't mean to add more stress and not that this is not possible - but if things aren't ordered/chosen - I would add 25% more time - oh, and add 25% more to the budget - soon you will be hearing "Guess what we found" when you ck your worksite - that ALWAYS means more $$$$ - In a project your size I think code may require hardwired smoke detectors & a carbon monoxide as well again more $$$ - if your house is plaster HOLD on to as much of it as possible - your house will be noisier when the replace the plaster with 1/2" sheetrock - In areas where you do use sheetrock require 5/8" rock - which will be some improvement & is fire rated - Not to mention the lead dust issue - no demo is more messy than plaster - Ok - I just go back to my own reno - & wish that I had been prepped somewhat for what I was about to embark on - Best to you

Don't hug or shake hands with anyone. If necessary, exchange an elbow bump. Wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitizer more frequently. I think the lysol and Clorox wipes are both great ideas. All this comes from a spot on ABC news advising on how to keep from catching someone germs. Have a healthy trip, with lots of fun.

Good frequent hand washing is the most important thing to do.

I'm not sure Lysol works against the Norovirus (the bug that sickened the cruise in the news). What I read is that it takes chlorine bleach & amazingly some of the "chlorox" products do NOT even contain chlorine bleach.

Glenda it has always been important to me as a "survivor" with a weakened immune system to be as safe as possible and I am notorious for hand washing anyway but I do believe that one thing that has saved my life or I should say, kept me from being sick, is that I am never afraid to wipe my mouth and nose area with those wipes...If is the transfer of germs to your mouth and nose that makes you sick so when you use a wipe, first use it on the area around your mouth and nose and then on your hands...A little precaution goes a long way but don't let it get in the way of having fun...

I was going to suggest Airborne Effervescent, but, see you already take that. I agree with other replies not to touch others in any way, even, if you know them. Keep those hand sanitizers with you all the time. This things apparently spreads like the plague. Wishing you a safe and healthy trip. Have fun.

I heard there is another ship with it, so take all your precautions. I wouldn't touch anyone or anything...paranoid as I am. Have a great trip.

These Noro outbreaks have been happening for years, just usually not as bad as the 1 on this ship!

1 Reason why I try and avoid the buffet as mush as possible on the cruise as some passengers don't adhere to proper manners. And another reason why we keep to ourselves,lol So I guess were not ur normal cruiser, lol

But if you have never been on a cruise, you should try it, probably a lot better than what you think! Lots of room--and that comes from me--very introverted. But I do suggest you check out cruisecritic.com as it has a pile of info!! Right down to whats the best room, and learn how to save $$$ etc etc
