It is item 8, if the link doesn't go directly. I am one of the bidders. I like the size of this chair - it would be easy to use in my home in several places. I plan to have it reupholstered or professionally slipcovered.

How high would you go? (or not at all, LOL!)

It was a nice shape. But, I'd be scared....

Have you seen (smelled) the chair in real life? Certain odors are hard to get rid of.

I like the looks of the chair, but like Maddielee said, I'd be nervous of possible odors. Do you live near the auction site to see it in person? I would also want to know the brand of the chair, along with a better idea of the age. The ad says that it's less than 40 yrs - ummm, that's not specific enough for me!

If the chair is as good as they say it is, and there are no funky smells, I would probably go no higher than $75 (and only if I could pick it up in person).

Righto--you have access to market pricing and values where you are, and I don't. So if you are going to be able to supply eggplant for some weeks, you start out at a price that you hope for and yet seems not too out of line with what you see (but not $10, sounds like)--if too crazy you might turn off returning customers, though being "wrong" usually isn't a crime-- and then you reduce if you get no buyers. You can also think about price per serving. When I think of eggplant and cooking it, I like to cook enough to feed several people, so that takes more than a pound. Think squash. Some folks eat the heck out of green peppers, but I use them in smaller quantities, so MIGHT be willing to pay more for a single pepper than for a single eggplant, say.

Fusion has not shared with you that he has a superb website and ships plants to many places and has an outstanding reputation for quality plants and prices. So I linked to his site below. Last I knew he also showed how he packs his plants as well. I don't buy plants from anywhere, online or elsewhere, but I know that if I did I wouldn't buy any plants that were a foot high, I'd want plants in the maybe 6-9 inch range. A good friend of mine does send me some plants from Raleigh and they do arrive in excellent shape, and are usually around 4 inches tall and all he does is to take the rootball and wrap the plants in newspaper, after putting film, call it saran wrap, over the rootball next to the stem and then folding over the top and bottom and stapling both shut. I will chime in first :) I use this rule of thumb. (setting aside that it has a nice name) What all can happen to a couch in 7 SEVEN years. How would you ever know how it's been cared for, was it cleaned regularly, was it slept on ever, puked on, peed on, do they have pets, kids? was it used for...well um, well other activities other than TV viewing? Not exactly the kinds of questions you dare ask the person who is selling it, but still... Well, after thinking on those few things, I'd probably never buy furniture from anyone that I didn't know. The ick factor for me is too high to do it. I may be a freak. who knows.

I am not sure about the wood... not my area of expertise. It does have lots of knots. My husband guessed, "pine?" I see the color variation in the photo you mentioned, but I can't see it in person. It definitely needs to be touched up. I wouldn't want to refinish if it were a true antique, but am undecided since we need to fix/clean it up, anyway. We have mostly dark walnut (color) wood in our home. Hubby mentioned he'd prefer the piece was darker. I think it is quite lovely as is. I am currently planning on putting it in our laundry/dog/mudroom, which is primarily white and beige. It fits an open space I have and would serve as a nice spot to set clean clothes when I pull them out of the dryer, set down keys since it is next to the garage door, charge cell phones, etc. To my eye, the color of the wood is a nice contrast to all the light, painted surfaces we have in there. Suggestions or ideas are definitely welcomed...

I would want to know more about the brand, etc of the chair, as pam14 said. If the quality is not high, it would not be worth the hundreds it would cost you to have it professionally reupholstered.

I think the cushion looks flat, and the back of the seat looks narrow. Certainly would not buy before sitting in it!

I would give them $25 because I'd need the hundreds to get it re covered. I don't like sitting on someone else's furniture unless I know who has sat on it.

Well I don't mind old upholstry, and you did say you'd recover it, but my concern is the age. I would spend good money on an antique, which will have great construction techniques. But something less than 40 years old, (looks 80's to me) it most likely has inferior foam and not so good pressboard involved in it's constructon. I wouldn't go any higher than it is now for sure, and probably less.
