Any tips for picking three rugs that coexist in one big area?

Hello, I spend most time in kitchens forum, but have a decorating question and hoping I can get some help:

Need rugs for living room, dining room/area, and foyer. All are open to each other. Any tips or rules of thumb for picking rugs that can peacefully co-exist? Do I just do wool sisal all over and forget it? Foyer is FB French Gray, dining is wainscot 5' up with an oyster/cream damask paper, living is a neutral cream. Thinking I need to pull the foyer green into the other rooms. Sorry no pics; nothing is actually done yet. Thanks for any advice!
