Help me decide between 2 glass tile backsplash choices.

Cabinets arrived today and demo starts this weekend. Now that I have the cabinets I can finally match all the other pieces together. Between the 2 glass tiles, which do you think would look better? I'm going to use it as a border between the white subway tile, I may go with the 2x8, not the traditional 3x6. Any other suggestions? I've also considered doing all subway tile and incorporating the glass tile over the range only. I think I've put to much thought into the back splash I don't know what to do anymore. My appliances are going to be all stainless if this will make a difference.

For me... the blue/green all the way. Now keep in mind I'm a blueish girl. I find the stark contrast between the garnet and white too harsh. I love the serene feel the blue/green has with your other choices.

Well, I'm a red kind of girl (grandma was part gypsy!). I LOVE the garnet. Pretty pretty pretty! In fact, I want to know more details about that mosaic tile, whether or not you use it.

I'm nowhere close to you and am feeling almost overwhelmed by choices as well. Keep us posted. I cannot wait to see the progress!

Of all the ones Saskgirl posted, I like the second one from the left, and the second one from the right. The gorgeous dark one to the left of the mixer might also be good, hard to tell in the out of proportion pic. I still think it's an artistic issue, ie you need someone with an educated eye to help you pick out the right colour/proportion to balance/complement your granite. Maybe ask Nuccia? She just posted her kitchen pics, and she (or someone helping her) obviously has an eye for colour!

backsplash ... how many rows of glass between subway tile?

rufinorox, have you considered how the dimensions of the tile would work with 2 vs 3 rows? will you have to have a row at the top of just a sliver of subways with one configuration and not the other? It might not be very visible from a distance especially with matching grout, but up close it might seem jarring. BTW - you are doing an amazing job with your kitchen. You must be so proud being able to say it is DIY!

Hi. We installed out kitchen in 2012. We still haven't chosen or decided on a backslpash - it's the painted wall. I have a creamy Egyptian marble, - don't remember the name. I like unstructured European vintage-y kitchens. Many of them don't have backsplashes either. My stainless range has a stainless backsplash directly behind it. I had picked out some mini-clear glass subway tile for the backsplash that coincidentally matches my Prescott Green paint color perfectly but what if I decide to change wall color one day? Just this week I started thinking maybe I made my backsplash tile decision three years ago which was to have none. Our marble installers tried very hard to discourage us from marble in the kitchen but I have not regretted it. All those kitchens in southern Europe can't be wrong. FYI - If you are considering glass backsplash look at a product call 3-Form it comes in an amazing variety of colors,textures and imbedded items, two good friends used it in their kitchens. http://www.3-form.com/ Do what speaks to you in your home. I really do like that glass, I have to say. You'd have to be careful how you lay it out, so that the light blue doesnt get lost in the paint color, but I think it is do-able. The slate that your hubbie picked out looks nice, too. In the photo without a flash (assuming that the colors are accurate) the tans of the slate really pick up some of the accent colors of the counter. At least in the photo, I like it better than the ostrich, and I may have to nix my previous comment about the "yellowness" of the slate. But I really like that glass.....

Another vote for the red/garnet tile. It looks gorgeous with your granite.

Thank you! I'm leaning towards the garnet myself.. because I am too a red kinda gal, but was afraid it would be too loud if you know what I mean. I was thinking it would be more serene with the blue/green, however the granite has specks of garnet in it, which I think would look really nice.

Its called bourbon blend and found it online.

They are both lovely. I'm another red fan. I love how the garnet picks up the red flecks in the granite and the red tone of the cabinets.

I think the 2x8 would look great.

I am biased toward 2 by 8s myself since that is what we are using too! I like both colors. Leaning toward the red but I would spend a bit of time in your kitchen light before making my final decision if I were in your shoes.
