Help dilineating differences between Whirlpool FLs

I am on a front loader w/d search and have it narrowed down to GE, Samsung, and Whirlpool based on extensive research here on GW. GE has one FL model to consider, Samsung has 4, while Whirlpool has 16! I am going dizzy trying to decipher the differences between all their models. They all seem to be the same model with one or two different features (6th sense live, smart assistant, precision dispense ultra, adaptive wash technology, etc. etc.). Can anyone make any sense of the Whirlpool models? Am I better off just picking their highest rated one or is there one I should definitely consider? Or if anyone has one they love, please let me know!

At the Whirlpool web site use the "Compare" option to compare washer offerings (4 at a time).
I noticed quite a few differences i.e. 1/4 horse power and 3 speed 1/2 horse power.
Direct Drive (no belt)
Spin Speeds
Soil Level options
Wash Cycles

Some are just color differences, compare the same colors so you don't go crazy comparing too many machines.
Go with what's important to you.

Personally I'd go with Whirlpool over Samsung or GE.

George, that was a big help. I selected the color and it reduced it down to anywhere from 8 to 10. Still a lot to go through, but not quite as dizzying. I guess I'm not sure which features are really important. I know I do want the automatic detergent dispenser. That seems really handy especially since most people use too much laundry detergent (guilty). But all the others I dont know. Any thoughts on the must-haves?

Interesting that you say go with Whirlpool over GE and Samsung. I was leaning that way anyway simply by the sheer number of machines Whirlpool offered when compared with the other two. Care to share your thoughts behind your preference? I haven't shopped for a W/D in a long time so I am open to ideas!

the newer WTW6200VW costs about $10 more and is "Energy Start Rated" because I believe it doesn't have a Water Heater , nor Soak Setting It's also rated 4.5cu/ft as opposed to 3.9 cu/ft, but that may just be the "new" standard for rating

Have had the 9400 with 9250 dryer for a week now and after getting the washer sitting right, love them. Clothes are very clean and dry fast. Only thing about my dryer is I don't see how the wrinkle guard feature can really work as it just tumbles a couple times, then stops for awhile ... then after a few minutes repeats. To me the clothes would wrinkle with the little bit it tumbles, but it isn't a problem for me as I'm used to getting my permanent press clothes out as quickly as possible anyway as my old dryer didn't have all the bells and whistles this one does. Bought them at Lowe's also. One thing about the doors is if your dryer needs to be on the left side of the washer your doors will open up against each other. I would have liked the option to reverse the doors, but only the dryer door will reverse and you need to order a door kit to do it. Dee

Help!!! Trying to Decide between Miele and Whirlpool Duet

I don't think you could go wrong with either.. both are of European design (or half-European for the Duet) and I trust the Europeans' longer experience in making reliable front-load washers. Salesmen at the appliance stores I visited have generally recommended Bosch, Miele, and/or Whirlpool. You might want to consider the availability of Miele service and parts though. I bought a Whirlpool Duet 9400 in March and have been pleased with its performance. I had a white bath rug with blue dye stains that no top-loader would ever get out, but after running it through several laundry cycles with the Duet (washing and drying each time), the stains eventually disappeared. I really don't know what to make of mc58's problem with the Duet 9200. I had a 9200 for a couple weeks before exchanging it for the 9400, but I never experienced problems as bad as described by mc58. I am looking at buying a kill-a-watt, but probably should check the watts-up. Any thought on which is the best deal? gordonr, I will look forward to your report on how your heater works. The cycles on my 2003 HE3t seem to be shorter than on the newer models, so I suspect the heater will be activated for a longer period of time if necessary. On my washer, the Whitest Whites (WW) and Heavy Duty (HD) are exactly the same, except that that WW cycle has the extra rinse option already selected, and the HD cycle has the stain treat option selected. The max amount of time the heater runs depends on the soil level setting. Light = Heater does not activate Normal = 7 minutes Heavy = 16 minutes When stain treat is selected, the heater can run for over 35 minutes, with a max wash time of over 40 minutes. The wash time for the Sanitary cycle extends automatically if necessary. While washing a huge load of towels with the stain treat option activated, the heater has run over 90 minutes. [The wash water starts at warm (104F) and is heated to extra hot (153F)] If you include the "catalyst" fill time and the wash time after the high temp is reached, the wash portion of the cycle can last up to an hour and 45 minutes. If stains don't come up after that, they probably won't ever come out. Joe

Currently, there seem to be three models from Whirlpool with Precision Dispense Ultra

- WFW96HEA
- WFW97HED (same but with styling changes and a different drum pattern)
- WFL98HEBU

If you're interested in the Precision Dispense option (from the three models whirlpool trainee pointed out), the WFW96HEA looks like it might offer some good features.

Both offer 4.30 Cu.Ft drum, 1400 RPM spin speed, stackable,
The WFW96HEA offers:
12 Wash Cycles (instead of 13)
Has Pre Soak 30 min, 8 hour, 60 min (No Pre Soak on other)
4 Soil levels - Extra Heavy (instead of 3 no Extra Heavy)
3 speed 1/2 horsepower (instead of 1/3 horsepower)
5 spin speeds (instead of 4 on the other)
LCD count down indicator

The WFL98HEBU offers:
Bulky Items, Hand Wash, Jeans, My Cycle, Rinse/Drain
A LCD information window.

For $200 less the WFW96HEA offers a lot of features.
With the WFL98HEBU you're paying for the LCD screen.

Samsung makes eye catching machines but I read a lot of issues with them not standing by the customers after the sale and when you have issues (same with LG).
Parts seem harder to come by, machines are made in Korea.
