Where I'm going with this is having a huge sink in a smaller kitchen, thus looking like a big bathtub where counter space may be more helpful. Sounds like the super single is the choice for most people with a prep, though, so I'm probably overthinking it. I guess I'm a little surprised that so few use smaller sinks but I may be a rare one to have a prep sink in a non mega kitchen. I see what you're saying about size of prep not mattering but I guess my thought is that since I won't have anything in it other than dirty dishes that I should be putting away anyway, I should move down a size. I'm not competing with prep space in that same sink as I am now, IYKWIM. The other thing that gives me pause with that sink is that I don't *love* the depth - I'm tall with back issues and my current sink (same depth) gives me fits when I stand at it for long (alas, no one in my family jumps to do the dishes, though, no matter how much I complain). To be fair, though, I prep there too and the Rondo is a shallower sink - hopefully that will help once I get the prep area. Plus we currently have tile and are replacing with softer wood. Did I mention I'm probably overthinking this???

Herbflavor is absolutely on the mark! Homework is ESSENTIAL! We found that sinks with seemingly equal measurements from different manufacturers have different minimum cabinet size requirements. We also discovered that if a particular manufacturer did not provide spec sheets for their product or their spec sheets were lacking data that other manufacturers provided, we steered CLEAR of that product. We settled on a Julien model with zero radius corners. It was on the high end of price, and ALSO on the high end of quality, service and ultimately our satisfaction! We are absolutely sure we made the right choice after doing all the research.

Hi aussies - Ihave a 24" sink cabinet. I know there are several threads on this with useful information. I don't remember all of them, and I actually hijacked a few because I need similar informatin and I was only a day away from template. Try doing a search and you'll find a boatload of info. I also checked on "Plumbing" and there are some pretty good expers there too.

I really miss having a prep sink in my current rental and can't fit one in the kitchen in my new digs. In my previous kitchen the prep sink was near the fridge on a counter that served purely as a prep area....large woods chopping counter, with built in slots for knives. The clean-up sink was six feet away on the other side of the kitchen. I used the area to wash and chop fruits and legs, and to cut meat & poultry, and pretty much do everything else to prepare foods before putting it in the oven or on the cooktop (or straight into serving dish if it wasn't being cooked.) The only thing I didn't do on that counter was my baking prep. The one regret ( a rather big one) I had about it is that I did NOT install a disposal in that sink. I really wish I had. Then, I could have just dumped veg peelings, meat scraps, etc. right into the prep sink. As it was I did tote them across the kitchen to the clean up sink. But I would definitely NOT worry about soap and washing dishes in a prep sink. Just dump the scraps in and grind 'em up, and MAYBE give a dish a rinse if it looked like it would drip nasty stuff on the floor getting it to the clean up sink for a proper washing. Remember that a prep sink is often, if not usually a much smaller sink...just large enough to rinse off produce, for example. But it also did make it handy to be able to get a glass of water or dump out a pot of pasta water, when the main sink was otherwise engaged!
