LOL, my cleanup sink is the Blanco super single, and I love it. It holds a whole dishwaher load of dishes awaiting their turn in the Miele, and it's deep enough that they don't look like a big pile. I can wash a roaster, cookie sheet, or refrigerator parts in there, with plenty of room to spare. I keep a dish bin underneath the sink for when I want to hand was a few things.

I have the super single, too! I don't relate the size have anything to do with my prep sink. The cleanup sink cleans dishes. I regularly use large sheet pans, large roaster, large fry pans, and lots of other medium size items that generally create a lot of mess. Plus, my fridge veggie bins and rangetop drip trays fit for easy washing. After using a wonderfully big sink for more than a year, I would hate to go back to anything else. The thing just holds so darn much dirty stuff!

Well, and maybe I should also ask what size your kitchen is. Mine is relatively small for two sinks - 11x9 - so an additional question is what clean up sink would be proportionally correct for that.

I'm not opposed to the super single....I just know it's larger than the current double sink I have and I've read threads where a single bowl feels larger once it replaces one's double, even when they're the same size. I don't want to overwhelm my kitchen and wish I had used that space for counter rather than sink, you know?

I, too, have a super single for all the above mentioned reasons (although at first I thought it said the above posters were washing "roosters"). My kitchen is...both small and large. Hard to explain because I have three very distinct zones.

But I have watched my 12 year old doing clean up in our temporary double bowl sink...and I'd prefer to never see the things I've seen in terms of eminent disaster in my finished kitchen. Plus, I love the idea of getting back to a big sink that isn't "full" because someone put a plastic tumbler and a cereal bowl in it. And, the idea of having a clean sink when and where I need to prep...sigh. Just one more week...

If you have the cabinet space, I don't understand any benefit to going smaller? And I'm not sure what kitchen size has to do with it... Cooking habits and family size might.

I have a double Kohler Clarity, which takes the same amount of space... I have always wished I'd gone with the SuperSingle, since with the prep sink, I don't need to have the main sink divided, and I could soak stove parts, scrub bigger skillets, etc if I had the SuperSingle.

I agree with breezy.. the prep sink size does not quite matter for the cleanup sink. I think anything less than 30in will be too small and you will end up spending more time cleaning aound it as it would be hard to contain the mess.

Where I'm going with this is having a huge sink in a smaller kitchen, thus looking like a big bathtub where counter space may be more helpful. Sounds like the super single is the choice for most people with a prep, though, so I'm probably overthinking it. I guess I'm a little surprised that so few use smaller sinks but I may be a rare one to have a prep sink in a non mega kitchen. I see what you're saying about size of prep not mattering but I guess my thought is that since I won't have anything in it other than dirty dishes that I should be putting away anyway, I should move down a size. I'm not competing with prep space in that same sink as I am now, IYKWIM.

The other thing that gives me pause with that sink is that I don't *love* the depth - I'm tall with back issues and my current sink (same depth) gives me fits when I stand at it for long (alas, no one in my family jumps to do the dishes, though, no matter how much I complain). To be fair, though, I prep there too and the Rondo is a shallower sink - hopefully that will help once I get the prep area. Plus we currently have tile and are replacing with softer wood.

;-) Overthinking is perfectly normal for all of us here, I'd say. So we understand.

I think you'll notice a positive difference with the 6 inches inside the sink, rather than divided in half and added to the counter on each side of the sink. Or put another way since I'm not sure I'm explaining well: If the sink ends up being too small, you'll miss those inches. I don't think you'll notice, either way, on the counterspace.

Agreed with all the urges above to go big! I never really quite realized how central *water* is to everything in the kitchen. I don't quite know why I didn't realize that before, but ... point is, I'd maximize all available sink-space. I have a cascade Blanco and a 24" stainless steel -- I wish the super single blanco were my prep sink and I wish my cascade blanco were their super single, which has straighter sides (like breezy's) and is therefore a little bigger, effectively. If I had it to do again I'd add 6" to both. Heck, if I had it to do over again I'd put sink storage shelves inside the sink and just hose em down there. kidding. sort of.
