An outlet under the sink for the garbage disposal doesn't count. Usually when an outlet is required by code it has to be within 12" of the counter surface because the a main point of the code for kitchen outlets is to put outlets close enough for short appliance cords to be plugged in without extension cords. The actual statement in code is fairly brief and different localities interpret it differently. Yours may apply the same 24" that they use for sinks on wall counters (which would make sense for the same reason). If you doubt that, you could ask the architect or your GC to contact the local code department to check. We were initially told that the outlets we wanted on the corner of our island under the overhang wouldn't count because outlets under an overhang of more than 12" don't, but that didn't make sense since the outlet would be much less than 12" from the side of the overhang. He checked and the county code guy said it was fine. We put one on a panel in front of our prep sink - the one that could otherwise be a tip out. No change for the storage on the cabinets needed.

I also think the two on each end are enough. I can't imagine it would happen often that you'd have 3 people all sitting at the island at the same time all in with low batteries.... not likely. Therefore the two on the end would be enough. Even if you did have the above mentioned situation, power cords are long enough to run across the island to share the duplex outlet with another user. I think brown recessed would be fine. It'll be in a shadow, and will blend in fine. We put the skirt on, and it's 4" -- I don't think I'd do 6" because with a cushy stool, it gets a bit cramped between the top of an adult thigh and the bottom of the skirt even with 4". We were able to additional 1x4 trim pieces from our cabinet company, I think the skirt is the same as the board we used along the bottom backside of the island as a trim board.

First, an outlet is almost always required by code. In my city, you need one outlet per island, more if you want, and you can't put an outlet under an overhang that's more than something like 6" (I don't remember the exact distance). In any event, they wouldn't be too useful to you under the overhang anyway. In your configuration, I'd want two outlets - one to serve the left side of the sink and one to serve the right side of the sink. Is the picture your actual layout? If so, your KD didn't do you any favors, since there's no place to put outlets on the front. We had a 4" space designed into ours just for the outlet.

If you want a nose tissue, you ask for Kleenex. BX may not be the official name, but any electrical supply house and electrician knows what it is. If you don’t look me the colloquialism, that doesn’t make it wrong. Let you get to be 75 and call things by the New Officially Adopted Nomenclature every single time when you are used to calling them by something else for 40 years. And junctions in boxes have to remain accessible. So all of those boxes are either in an accessible cabinet, in which case all that wire needs to be changed to armored cable, or it’s a dead, inaccessuble space, and the boxes can’t originate from there.
