Any one use Argon oil for skin problems?

I went to Sally's beauty shop to buy Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum(they have generic) but the sales girl said to be leary if you have psoriasis or eczema. I don't know why I guess just sensitive skin which I have. When I mentioned psoriasis on the head she said she used Argon oil, the Argon shampoo also and it helped. The oil absorbed quickly, wasn't greasy so it don't leave you greasy headed. I bought the shampoo and the small bottle of Argon oil. I just shampooed with it, then applied tiny amounts of oil on my psoriasis spots on the head and rubbed it in. It does absorb quick, isn't greasy so I put it on the spots on my legs and elbows. It smells nice, makes my grey hair shine...LOL I didn't put a conditioner on my head since the shampoo has the argon oil in it. I'll use it for a while and see how it does. Has anyone heard of this oil and has anyone had any luck with it moisturizing their scalp??

Yes, I use Argon oil for nearly everything on my body - skin, moisturizer, to remove makeup, for my dry hair - I love it!

So I stopped in at a Sephora store today. The cleansing oil's immediate scent made me think of orange-scented household cleaning liquid (like Orange-Glo), but it dissipated quickly. The store had a 2-piece "trial size" box for $18, but I passed on it, wanting to read more about the Argan oil and other oils people use. I tried the hand cream, which was very nice (I'm still getting over my winter-hands roughness/redness/tiny "cuts" in many places on the hands -- I guess I just "abuse" them on zippers and such and just don't realize it.) Several years ago, a friend gave me a Body Shop almond oil cuticle cream, and I pulled it out again this winter, and that helped a bit. I finally learned to not use any hand creams that contain alcohol; Udderly Smooth seems not to have any. Now to my next question: Does the coconut oil's scent dissipate quickly, too? I'm talking about the Trader Joe's kind. (Or, does the coconut oil have a scent at all? Maybe thinking about the coconut kind of scent in suntan lotions has led me astray in my assumption -- maybe that scent is artificially added?)

Violet, my post disappeared or I must not have hit send, but I would start with the ins. covered doctor, and go from there. If she is not getting anywhere, then I would do a self-pay consultation with a homeopathic MD. I found one in her area (Dr. Soule) but have no idea how good he is. Anyway, that isn't the starting point, just good to know there are options, if that makes sense. She just shouldn't give up. Duluth, wow-- Addison's Disease. My dear friend, who was really more like a cousin to me, passed away from it. She was 10 and I was 12. It was undiagnosed. She was half Mexican, half Irish. Her mother (Mexican) was very pale . . .as was she. VERY pale. She came home from a trip to Mexico and her skin was unusually dark-- in a tone that I've never seen anyone with. Along with this, she had symptoms like licking pickles, licking the salt off potato chips. Her test scores went down. They put a cot in the classroom for her. Etc., etc. The doctors would NOT believe her mom. They said she was fine. Said she needed her tonsils out (now we are amazed she survived the operation). Said she got dark because she was Mexican. Doctor appointment after doctor appointment, and they turned her away. As her parents were sitting down to discuss what they would say at the doctor's appointment (scheduled for the following day)-- they were not going to leave without answers-- she went into cardiac arrest and passed away. I miss her dearly. Shortly thereafter she passed away, my father had a dentist appointment. Our dear friend's death was weighing heavily on his mind, and told the dentist her symptoms. The dentist immediately diagnosed her with Addison's Disease. We could never figure out how the dentist knew, and these doctors-- for years-- did not. If only we had information back then as we do now. So glad you were diagnosed and are OK.

I think you mean Argan oil.

Argon is an inert gas. :)

I read a bit about it, and it looks like all argan oil is processed by Berber women in Morocco and is their main source of income.

It also looks like it contains many beneficials for the skin. I'll have to try some.

I like it, too. Bought it at Sally's as well. But I read a lot about it before deciding to try it. I like what it does to/for my hair and it is not expensive, unlike a LOT of that hair stuff that is so popular now.

I have used Argan oil on my hair for years now. It is great. My hair in naturally curly. It gets dry with lots of frizz because I work outside or even the cold weather. Try Amazon or e-bay as they are both cheaper then Sally's.

When I read this, I hoped maybe it would help my dry, broken hair. But from reading reviews most have thick curly hair, prone to frizz, and mine is thin and straight prone to frizz.

Any thoughts? Does it "take a while" to see any benefits, or would a small amount be enough to try?

This is what I was hoping to hear, that it is good for the hair and scalp. Breenthumb, it might just help! My hair is very curly but thin in some places because of the psoriasis. The oil so far makes my hair less frizzy and more manageable. My husband used the shampoo and likes it as well.
Yes Iowagirl, I did mean Argan oil. I saw that after I hit submit...LOL

After using the shampoo, I dry my hair good with a towel and use a small drop of the oil rubbing it really well all over my head. I think it is the oil that makes your hair so soft and manageable.

Thanks, debn. Guess I'll give it a try. Either way I think my DD, who has the right kind of hair, will try anything in hopes of taming her thick curly hair...especially in the summer. So I'll use some of what I buy for her to try too.
