Personally, I would stop it at the edge of the cabinets and finish it off with a stainless 'trim' piece. That way you have a nice finished edge and both sides of your window stay balanced as the are now. I don't know the proper name for that trim piece but any tiler or tile person would know what you want. I think running the tile down the wall would be distracting.(LOVE YOUR KITCHEN!)

I would stop at the edge of the cabinets. But do you really need a backsplash? you have a window behind the "splashy" part...I kinda like the bit of wallcolor in between.

My vote is to stop at the cabinets. But I also agree that your kitchen is stunning as is. I can also see your point in wanting another decorative element to add to the over all look of the kitchen.

Thank you all for your opinions, I kinda thought it would finish it off to have a backsplash but I may just keep pondering that thought and keep it as is for a while.

I love that wall color, so I'd also suggest stopping at the edge of the cabinets - otherwise you'll have a solid wall of white.

Love the window! I'd be inclined to forget the backsplash. Your color balance is lovely as is, and the bs isn't really needed for functionality in that space.

My vote is end of cabinets.

I agree with some of the others, I would skip the backsplash. It looks finished the way it is. Why mess with perfection, right?

If you're backsplashing, stop at end of cabs. This defines end of kitchen on both sides of kitchen. It also gives visual definition of larger area for mvmt of chairs toward the kitchen. "Step on a crack, break your mother's back" is sort of an unconscious trespass of chairs into kitchen.

I agree with everyone else - it should end where the cabinets end.

Is that window a slider with two different roman shades? Is that fabric or bamboo. Please explain. We still don't have window coverings after 6 months because I don;t know what I want and am intrigued by what you did and why you did it this way. How wide is your window, Details please. Do you have a closer picture? Thank-you

White subway would look great but maybe something like fire and ice would be incredible too, stopping the tile at end of the cabinets.

When I opened up this thread, my immediate thought was, "what a nice kitchen!" I like it just as it is. If you feel you need a backsplash, definitely stop at the windows. I think I need to save your kitchen for inspiration. I love your windows and the glass cabinets around them. Nice job!

Lovely kitchen. I think I'd complete it with a backsplash -- this is where everyone's eyes are when they come into the kitchen. Take your pic & granite & cabinet sample if you have to a tile store & get ideas. There are some wonderfully understated glass tiles or subway with crackles -- something a little unique, but doesn't have to have a lot of color or splash. It will be icing on your cake. If the $$ are too high at a specialty shop then shop around you often can find similar picks at other stores.

You can finish it with a thin piece of matching tile to use as molding or an accent piece. These days every tile doesn't come with a bullnose.
