When the big remodel isn't likely to happen any time soon...

...where would you start to slowly improve the kitchen? I have the following on "the list" but am stuck where to begin in the mid-century modern home with a kitchen that was remodeled in the mid-70's:

1. Jenn-Air range circa 1974, 3 working burners, small oven with no door handle, no oven light, disgusting inside (tricky part... I would have to get another downdraft replacement), new Jenn-Airs run over $2,000 at my local appliance store;

2. 22 year old fridge which works fine- if you push your foot against the bottom side of the door seal each time you close it;

3. Dark brown vinyl floor with lovely geometric indentations (easy to miss the cat under low light conditions!);

4. Off white laminate counters with a 2" burn mark from previous owners;

5. Cabinets that structurally are fine, the basic orange-ish oak that looks not a bit mcm... I am inspired by the recent posts from folks who have painted theirs;

6. Replace double stainless sinks with a single sink

I have about $2,000 to start and am fine with purchasing gently used appliances. Where would you start?!
