How Many of You Have One of These in the Freezer?

They let school out early today because of the weather/ sleet, rain and snow. Twinkie went and picked up the girls and brought them to stay with us.

They couldn't go out and play in it because of school clothes, no boots, etc.

Seven year old went out on the deck and created this: LOL

Otherwise, your freezer looks just like mine........minus the ice cream spills and unidentifiable grunge.

Mike, First I want to say, the plants I received, beginning Jan 1, 2010, were in 3-4" containers, bulbs and cuttings. Only a handful were larger, meaning 8" to 1' tall. Total: 58. :) :( Marguest, your Banana Tree is beautiful. The colors amazing. There's even a pup. Did you find it on Ebay? Mike, to answer a few questions. I MUST stay away from Ebay..It's one addicting site. Not only do they have great deals on plants, but plant supplies. There's also a few online nurseries I browse every other wk or so. The internet makes it too easy to shop for such an exciting hobby. A few clicked keys, next thing, a package is at your front door? One word of Warning for those who really want to stop buying plants.. Well, an attempt. Do NOT sign up for nursery News Letters. It's convenient, swaying us to their site, displaying their wares. Hear the clicking keys to Paypal? lol. As for local nurseries, fortunately, there are two that sell very very nice and rare specimens..luckily, opposite directions, both a long distance drive. An hour on non-congested days, 1.5-2 hours during 9-5, Rush Hour traffic. Although, traffic has gotten so heavy the past five years, the only time to go anywhere with time to spare is between midnight and 5am. Problem is, the stores are closed. lol. Our grocery store, Jewel's, always has plants for sale. Mostly, basic plants like Spaths, certain Dracaenas, etc. My problem arises when they have dollar sales. 3-4" potted plants for 1.00. Every so often, they'll have a rarer specimen. Buy 3, pot them up, and you have a lovely plant for 3.00. Four years ago, they had, mixed in with other dollar plants, Schefflera 'brassaia/actinophylla, a plant I hadn't seen in years...last one) I grabbed it up fast. lol. That's about it. I never had any of the common hybrids make more than 2 spikes at a time. If you leave the old spikes, that's different. My impression from the OP was, how many spikes would form at one time? I'm not counting old spikes. I don't think the OP was asking about species. Jane

I start my tomatoes in an unheated garage after solstice in Oregon. After the seedlings come up, I take them off the heat mat and use just the lights close and have a fan running to imitate wind. They are very stocky that way. I also bring the tray out on sunny days a few minutes and work up to more. When I pot up the the first leaves they go into an unheated green house and I open up the green house for a part of the day. They are very stalky that way.

Liebherr Integrated 24in Fridge/Freezer - Anyone Have One Or Two?

We have one of the 24" fully integrated Liebherrs adjacent to a 30" Thermador Freedom refrigerator. The Liebherr was installed in September '09. Yes, we love it, although the best thing about this refrigerator is that I don't even notice it's there most of the time: it's dead quiet. Since we have a full freezer in our lower level, we didn't feel the need to have much freezer space in the kitchen, although I am surprised just how much we can stuff into those three freezer drawers. Sometimes I cram in so much that it's a bit difficult to open and close the freezer drawers, but that's entirely on me. The Liebherr has become what we call our "condiment refrigerator." It holds MANY bottles plus extra milk, eggs, seltzer, and the like. I will say that right after it was installed, I was a bit disconcerted by the condensation running down the back wall even though I knew it was part of the refrigerator's normal operation. I have not noticed much, if any, moisture on that wall for quite some time which may be because most of what we store in the Liebherr is sealed. All in all, I am very happy with it, especially since it was a floor model that we purchased at a deep discount.

we got snow today...I told DH we could build a SNOWBALL if we hurried and collected the snow in the entire yard! It was gone when I looked out the window later. First snowfall this year, gone already!

OMG, she found the shriveled body of the Pillsbury dough boy. Finally, some closure.

Ya ya, the best snowmen ever made here were made when there was only about an inch of snow. Wet sticky snow. Just think what you might be freezing if she had snow boots.

Never had a snowman YaYa...but had a bucket load of snowballs, my kids saved so they could have a snowball fight in July...

You have to let them thaw for awhile so they aren't "ice balls"

I don't- I can keep mine outside. YaYa, we got about 5" of the white stuff and I made one snowball which soaked right thru my gloves, phooey! How much did you get? Ours is still here, hope it melts soon. Collies accumulate snow in amazingly huge amounts in little time. What a mess!

I bet you had fun with the girls!

We probably only got 1-2 inches. There are still some brown leaves sticking up out of ours! LOL The ground is totally covered, though.

Kids went to school today. Their school and one other in the area were the only ones open. Cars are going by up on the "new highway" at a pretty good clip, though. Roads seem to be pretty clear.
