Dual Heat -- How to Know When to Convert to Gas

Hi All: Does anyone know exactly how to go about determining at what temperature it is more efficient to use the furnace vs. heat pump to heat. I live in Atlanta, pay .49 per therm for gas and .086 per electric KWh. Is there a chart or program that I can use to enter the data?

I spoke with the HVAC co. that installed the system and they keep saying that the system is very advanced and it automatically knows when to switch over, which I find hard to understand because the system does not know the cost of the two different fuels. FWIW I have Bryant Evolution Extreme system with 987A furnace and 280A heat pump and we prefer the furnace heat in the winter because it is more comfortable. I have it set to lock out the heat pump and use the gas furnace at 44 degrees and lower. Just wondering if maybe since the furnace is so efficient and gas is so cheap these days if I would be better off for now going all gas furnace heat at least until gas prices rise. Any ideas? Thanks for your insight!
