Options for new furnace in North Carolina

I'm replacing the furnace in my 1700sf one-story house in North Carolina. I got a few quotes. One company actually suggested replacing the 7-year-old air conditioner at the same time to save on labor and because it uses R22 refrigerant. That company quoted me $3,800 for the furnace only and $5,600 to replace both the furnace and AC.

The proposed furnace would be a 2.5 ton Carrier 59SC5A08017--16 (Comfort 95) and the AC would be a Carrier 24ABB324A003 (they're saying it's 14 SEER although googling that model number suggests it's 13 SEER). The warranty is 5 years labor, 10 years parts.

Should I do both? Should I upgrade from either of those models? Should I go with something completely different altogether? I'm OK with a system that's not the quietest, but would pay more up front if it pays off in the long run with energy savings. The existing AC is a Trane XR13 manufactured in 2007 and it's working fine. The existing furnace is from the 1980s and it's in the crawlspace.
