DH is just shaking his head at DD Heather and I and all this wedding planning business. He says and I quote "you guys are getting all shook about this stuff way to early here dontcha think?"

I laughed my butt off and said NO WE AREN'T!

Someone did ask Heather why she is trying to do so much so soon. She asked her "well what are you going to do when the wedding is closer? you will have everything done" Heather said Duh! EXACTLY!

We both know there will be plenty to do, especially that last week!

You don't have to answer that question up there, cause I KNOW we are right!

Wedding planning is alot of work and the closer it gets, the more stressful it is. I dont blame her for wanting to get things sorted out and taken care of now, that way as the date gets closer, she can just enjoy the time stress free. And besides, it will be October in the blink of an eye.

Yes it is stressful Steph, I don't want her walking around with a headache the entire last month from trying to get things done and making last minute decisions.
Pretty soon it will be spring and then 4th of July and then Labor Day and time to panic! LOL You're right, in the blink of an eye!

Our master bedroom was on the main floor in the last house, but upstairs in this one. We have three children ages 6 - 15, each of whom have a bedroom on the second floor. I much preferred the master on the main living level. In our next house, the master will definitely be back to the main floor. Chisue, Not to get off topic, but I hope you don't mind answering a question. I read your post above about building a 2 bedroom home with a large attic for future expansion, for resale. We are kind of planning that with our next house but for financial reasons. My DH's job requires relocation every few years. This is our 6th house in 16 years. Chances are good that he will get transferred in the next year. Now that the kids are older they do not want to move AGAIN. So our plan is to sell the current home (4500 sq ft) and build a smaller home in the same school district, with 2500 on main level with about 1300 unfinished on second floor. We would buy a townhouse for DH in the new location and he would only come home on weekends. The financial burden of operating two homes is the need to figure out how to cut costs. The kids and I would live on the main level and I would GC the finishing of the second level, while doing as much as possible of the work ourselves. So now that I have given you too much background, my question(s) is(are)... how much did you have to pay per sq ft for the unfinished attic space? It would be nice if I could just figure 2500 x $X sq ft, but I'm sure the extra framing and higher roof line will cost something, as well as materials to cover the extra exterior height. I'm sure it seems silly to ask questions when we don't know if/when a transfer will happen but once it does he is usually gone within the week and the company only covers his expenses for 90 days. I always have a file on hand with as much info as possible so I will be prepared when the time comes. Besides, I love the planning aspect of a new house!

My thanks to all of you who posted comments, both good and bad. I can't begin to tell you how feedback about my florals opened my eyes, so I was able to change things for my next set of photos. I'd never think that removable "props" would turn someone off. I also have to say that you're taking it well and seem to appreciate the feedback. Those of us selling can now see our house through strangers eyes and what a potential buyer might think when seeing our house online. How the photos look will dictate whether they take the time to actually walk our houses. The last time our house was for sale we did not get any feedback, so I'm very thankful for this forum and hope that the feedback you got helps you. I noticed that the wallpaper in my home got some of the most frequent and critical remarks and it's left me wondering about something. Is wallpaper no longer in vogue in new or remodeled homes or is it that my particular wallpaper is not to the liking of most of you? I've walked a lot of new communities with model homes and can say that here they are still using wallpaper but not in all of the rooms. You might pick the nicest rooms to keep the wallpaper. I love the foyer wallpaper but not with the door color and not with the flooring. You might think to leave some of it up and paint other walls, using it as an accent. Back entrance wallpaper - I would take it down. Half bath - I like the wallpaper but not with the light fixture. Study - I've seen similar paper used in homes I've walked. Utility - dislike the walls - would sheet rock & paint 1st floor master - would paint 1st floor master bath - I like the paper but not for a room like this. I would paint and think about putting up beadboard 2nd floor master - while I like the top paper, I think it would look better painted. The wood on the door is much too dark. I'd also think about putting up a scarf on the windows, then opening the blinds for the photo. While I like pink, others do not :( Second floor vanity/dressing area - this paper you could get away with leaving. Bath 2, second floor - I would try to lighten this room up or leave the picture out. Living Room - I would paint this I also realize that the paneled family room is dated but my thoughts on that is to either paint the paneling a neutral color or rip off the paneling, put up sheetrock and then paint. I also want to install engineered wood flooring in that room and perhaps extend it in to the foyer where, I admit, the tile color is also dated. Another area of critical comments was due to my home having so much carpeting. Has carpeting also gone out of style or do I just have too many rooms with carpet? We just did this in the master bedroom. I would sheet rock. The carpet wouldn't bother me here. I'm one of the weird ones that actually likes carpet, especially for my bad back. Walking on wood floors kills me. BTW, the Saint Bernard that appeared in at least one photo and brought about a comment or two that some people wouldn't even consider buying a home where a dog had been passed away on June 10 much to my hurt. I'm in the process of cleaning up all traces of his presence here. That is, everywhere but in my heart! Very sorry for your loss. After 22 years, I still miss our German Shepherd.

You guys need to lighten up a bit i made the bold type to make it a bit easier for the old farts to read..as for the problem... I gave you the right info so sorry you could not understand what the issue really was. This sight is not the end all be all for fixing everyones problems. Most of you are not "snobs" but many of you come off that way..get over yourselfs..I am sorry if this web page is your life. I mean you no harm. We all are here to help people and have fun as well...The problem with the contactor was this......The electrician who installed the wire from the switch to the coil, stripped off the end of the wire but when he pulled the strippers away the insulation stayed on the wire..so when he landed that wire under the coil screw it was obviously not making a good connection..I thought it was funny when I found it and he was not so happy, but we still had a beer later and joked about it...S@#T Happens...lol

I like it, and IRL I probably wouldn't have noticed it if someone didn't point it out to me. I once hired a cabinet maker to construct a bookcase to match an antique flatwall cabinet, which we'd converted to a TV cabinet. I gave him detailed drawings, and he even commented about the quality and clarity of my illustrations. The flatwall cab has no trim--flat slab on the top, straight sides and 'feet'. When the cabinet maker delivered the bookcase, I noticed that he'd added rounded trim to the slab top and shelf edges. His explanation was that he thought my design was too plain. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. I like the guy, so I let it go, and a few years later had him make two more bookcases to match the first--rounded trim and all. I'd prefer it my way, but I don't even notice it any more, and no one has commented that it doesn't match the TV cab.

Y'all are so right! Get that planning done early and you will enjoy it more. Time sneaks up on you, so, yes! plan early. Y'all will be so glad you did!

Yes wedding planning is exhaustive, I just helped DDIL plan their wedding for 167 people in 62 days.(no rush other than the venue they wanted was fully booked thru 2008 finally in Oct the venue told us the holiday week was open, so they picked New Years Eve) We were just talking last night and she is so happy we did it all in a short time, because you can really stress over every darn detail, and there are SO many details. By having a short planning time you have to make a decision without being wishy washy. Now we are having wedding withdrawal. So enjoy the time you have, It is so fun. Keep us informed of all the plans as they come along,

LOL Happytime! I know between now and October there will be at least 1000 more wedding posts from me!
It doesn't take much to throw me into a panic! I will need lots of advice and help answering questions I am positive!

You know you're right. Just keep in mind some of the things you take care of and get out of the way early can still come back to pressure you later. Another example of stress factors. Don't let it. Keep the attitude that you just have to take care of it is all. The day can wisk by like a blur when stress is the one in control. Neither bride nor mom will enjoy or remember a moment of it. Very best to you both.

This time, a year ago, I was up to my eyeballs in making 2000 tissue paper flowers (remember the topiaries? :)

I think my hubby made a similar comment once . . . but he never made another one, LOL! Sorry, don't mean to insult anyone, but men just don't 'get' stuff like wedding planning . . . it's kind of like the laundry fairy who magically sneaks in and replenishes their clothes . . .

Enjoy it all, Connie . . . it was the most fun I ever had :)

When My Daughters wedding was all said and done after a year of planning.....Main Man and I wondered what we were going to do with all our spare time. We had a blast planning and putting it together. 450 Invitations! About 350 attended.

October may seem a long way off to him but it will be here before you know it. You are wise to be getting a head start on it. There can be so many things pop up that you hadn't thought about. Keep us posted on how the plans are coming.
