If your old unit did ok with the 4-ton size then its probably safe too say the new unit will be fine at 4-tons.
Is the model you received 2-stage? Those are good for removing humidity. They run in the low stage alot.

That old unit you were replacing was 14-seer. Thats pretty efficient. Why replace? Did it stop working?

In Miami you need very little heating I assume. When it does get cold I hope you are using a heatpump.

be aware the outside AC condenser mdl you provided is a Bryant not a Carrier. a very nice system for a 4 ton. numbers provided below. this is a two stg AC condenser. Your dealer should have installed the Bryant/Carrier thermidistat for best operation. Did they?

My old unit was leaking freeon. The new one is a two stage comp & Furnace w/ Bryant therm.

The company told me that Carrier and Bryant were the all in the same and other than the label, they were identical and that Bryant was cheaper.

I do not trsut this too much. I also paid 6000.00 total before any rebate. Is that ok or way off?? Regarding sizing, I really do not want to wait a year to try to get the company to replace it for a 5 ton. I think now is the time to fix this.
They also did a heat load calculation but after the unit was installed, STRANGE.

Here is another tidbit, The furnace was set on low fan speed, when i complained that I had little air movement they upped it to medium. It still was not to par with my old 5 ton furnace at 2000cfm, so they set it on high.
Is it normal to have the 4 ton furnace set on high? It is a 2 stage furnace and compressor and when it is on, it is loud, especially at full speed. Any ideas? Did I need a 5 ton and was sold this in error? I am in need of advise. Thanks to all in advance. also, i clocked the cycles last night and it is at 6 cycles per hour. The outside temp was about 78 and inside set at 75. Please help.

pretty short cycles, but weather is mild just now.
and dip switch settings are high.
were you comfortable and just wanting more air flow
or uncomfortable with lower air flow?
next summer dip switch settings will more than
likely need to be lowered to provide humidity removal.
bigger hvac is not the answer..don't buy into that.

did they do any duct sealing or testing to see

we advocate heat pump installs on all electric
homes. minimum 15 SEER. savings is wintertime
when hp provides heat. electric strip is
the most expensive way to heat a home.

It is difficult to compare the old unit to the new because the old one was a 4 ton compressor as well but with a 5 ton furnace blowing 2000cfm. Now i have a 4 ton in both. The only thing I did that i am unsure of is having them set the fan speed at high, 1840cfm. I think I should reverse it to the normal 1600cfm?? I am so confused and frustrated because I know nothing about A/Cs. Please give me some help!!!

Duct leak test was done and was 96% sealed. The home is also pretty tight. Power co. came out and tested. Good insulation, etc...
I was thinking of changing the fan speed back to normal, 1600cfm. The old unit was a 5 ton blowing 2000cfm and the new was blowing 1600cfm. I guess I felt the difference. the new is now set at high, 1840 cfm but I might be losing humidity control. Please help!!

If your fan speed is set too high it won't dehumify good. I learned that myself. When I started my new heatpump in A/C mode in late spring it wasn't dehumidifying. I remembered the installer put the the fan speed to high since he said airflow was good for heatpumps. I switched myself to medium speed and 'wallah' it started dehumifying like a champ. I prefer the medium speed over hi any day because its more quiet.

yes it is a Bryant thermidistat. My problem is that i just saw the paperwork on the heat load calculation and it states that my total square footage is 2016 when the appraisal has it at 2221 and the sales guy even measured and came up with 2300. This of course throws everything off. This is quite upsetting. I believe I needed a 5 ton set not 4 ton set.
