I just saw your kitchen in another thread and was wondering what color/brand of paint you used on your walls. It's beautiful. I just had a first coat of what looks to be a similar color applied, but it's not quite right. I know it's hard to tell in pictures, but I think your color is more what I was hoping for.

Thank you. It's Benjamin Moore - Saybrook Sage. Here is another view. You might also want to take a look at the thread on "greens" in the gallery section of "home decorating". It takes a while to load all the great pics but fun to see what others have done. Good luck, it's hard to find the right one but you'll know when you do.

Thank you! That really is beautiful. It feels so calm and soothing. Saybrook Sage was definitely on my short list. Painter was there this morning and we ended up going with a different combination of sage/greens. After seeing your photo, I hope I don't regret not going with Saybrook. Otherwise, I'm afraid the painter will be back yet again, or worse yet, I'll be breaking out the rollers to do it myself. Thanks for the link too. I can't wait to see what others have done.

Maybe mine is too old and sticky with other stuff? I tried the just brushing with alcohol and it didn't seem to do anything at all. Maybe the shellac layer will melt that a little? Mine is in such a variety of states - I think that is what is bugging me most. Some looks great and some parts look absurdly shiny and some looks dull/tired/ancient. All on the same pieces of wood! - I guess it was how the light hit things and what they did to it to clean it up (banisters must have been hit with something Pledge a lot since they are waxy/sticky). columbusguy1, try and it and report back! Inquiring minds wanna know! If you are sure it is shellac, I don't think you can damage it with this method!

McMann...you need the mural I put in my sunroom...that way you can do laundry and while away at the beach! I even have a sound machine in there that sounds like the ocean and waves!! Dani...I haven't ordered it yet...but it most likely come from the place from the red trim...unless I find it somewhere cheaper...I need four rolls and it's 18.00 a roll!! They had some on Amazon for 12.00 a roll... Here's what my laundry room looks like now...It's fairly good size. the other side I do like the red...with the yellow option...however the green has the background the color of my floor in there...I could still do yellow though...I'm glad ya'll veto'd the sponge job cause I wasn't really all that choked up about it...it was just an idea that I quickly took your advice on! I'll let you know...I just hope the old wallpaper comes off easy!! I found this picture on the net several years ago...It's my dream laundry room...but it takes someone with talent in painting of which I don't have...Isn't it darling!! Thanks ya'll!! You've been a tremendous help as always!!

Do you not want it all the same? Thats what I would do with that space. If you want difference you could define space with different coordinating accent pieces of whatever you choose. I think you will get much more cohesiveness and a better feeling with one color.

Thank you! I had 9 different swatches up on the wall at various points, all with names like "frosty fog" and "first snow," trying to decide on just the right color. I ended up with Glidden Idyllic Blue (available at HD), which is a grayish blue with a very slight hint of purple, just like my granite. The other 8 shades were either too baby-blue, too purple, or too gray. Trim is Dunn Edwards Whisper, which for non-Californians is a standard one-shade-creamier than stark white. Cabinets are maple: "Cashmere" is its official name, but it's pretty close to a natural maple, with a caramel glaze. HTH.

I haven't posted finished ones yet but I'm working on it. It's probably as finished as it's going to be for a while.

Scramla, there are so many beautiful sage combinations, I'm sure yours will be perfect.
