I used green water goblets in this photo, but then decided to switch back to the clear.

LOVE the wall color! I think the stripe or border of frames is a cute idea, but perhaps works better in a hallway or on a longer expanse of walls. I am afraid that it might end up visually chopping up your walls in the kitchen even more. How about just doing a large grouping of them above the desk in that wall space? You could mix in a decorative wall plaque, perhaps a couple of framed postcards or other pieces of art, and get a nice wall-hung swing-arm lamp to use above the desk. Think about adding some cool handles to the desk in the same brushed nickel, or whatever you kitchen cabinets may have, to add some texture and interest. Before you decide on hanging wall art (or the nice clock), I am a little curious about the furniture placement. It feels a bit like one large circle of chairs. Wondering if you might try the two upholstered chairs with their table and a lamp in the bow window area. Swing the couch around to sit more in front of the wall. Move the recliner and its table to the place where the two chairs were, and move the tv more into the corner. A console table and lamp on the wall to the left of the door would be nice, perhaps a mirror above it, and would bring more lighting into the room. I don't think you need drapery on the bow window. But if you want it, I would mount the rod above the window and hang panels on the outside of the space. Down the road you might think about adding trim around the windows to match what you have around the doors. You have the sills already, but especially on those kitchen windows I think it will really finish the look. By the way, no need to put holes in the walls. Get the Command adhesive hooks and hangers at any home center. They work, don't leave marks, and come in weights and styles that work for almost everything.

It's a very beautiful home. You don't really need anything under the sconces. Of course you could keep chairs there, or an alive plant..but they will look great as they are. If you don't want to put an art on the walls behind the servers..put art on the servers themselves:) I understand the candlesticks need to stay on one of them..I'd remove all the small things unless they have to be there, or put them close together on a tray or something, and maybe add a vase with flowers right behind the candlesticks? a very thin one, maybe also silver one. Say, with one rose in it. Unless you think it will make the server too crowded and harder to use when it's getting used. To put my thought in a short way-I'd strive to create there an odd number of pieces, and the object X number three I'd try to make taller than candlesticks..but very very understated and discreet in a way that won't overwhelm them. Or-I could go for one object shorter and wider than the candlesticks..in which case I'd choose something darker, meaningful to you but that you have to come closer to look at it..family photo? On the other server then I'd put an art, something bigger and sculptural...maybe a sculpture. Maybe a sculptural interesting lamp..Maybe a clock-some clocks are incredibly beautiful. Then you'll see whether you want a mirror on that wall or not. Art works great with wallpaper..but in your dining room..I see how you don't want a) to maybe take away from wallpaper. You won't but it takes big adjustment and I'd probably feel the same, at least until I was ready b)it needs to be really special art..very special to you. Maybe you have it already but don't want to move it from one space to another. Happens to me all the time, hence the guess:) As for the arrangement on the table. I'd probably keep to flowers. It will keep things fresh like nothing else since flowers are never the same. Probably two vases if it's something medium sized like roses. One vase if it's something big..flowering branches, say.

I was thinking something along the lines of this... You can use the colors of the rug, like the terracotta, in your pillows on the chairs. It's too bad you don't have room for the alternative placement of the TV, and in that case I would get a console to put catty-corner on the walls next to the fireplace on the right, even though the windows will be behind the TV. Since you say this is not your permanent home perhaps that will do as a stopgap measure. The couch should be facing the fireplace, unless you want to angle everything to face the TV. The chairs will go perpendicular to the couch. The fireplace nook you can fill with a painting or perhaps an arrangement of blue and white Chinese porcelain (have a look at etsy). With a beautiful rug I'd suggest a glass and metal coffee table so the rug design shows through. You'd also need side tables but I see no way that you can have lamps without trailing cords. Find a way to display books on the tables, which give a lived-in look. Pardon me if I use pictures of my home to illustrate some of these points; your taste may be quite different, but it's just to give you some ideas. This rug is made of polypropylene and therefore much more affordable, but you can see how these colors would brighten your room and give you colors for pillows on your couch and chairs. You can find rugs on e-bay, overstock.com, pottery barn, just google area rugs and then indicate "traditional" or "oriental" and you'll find lots of ideas.

Did you ever finish your home remodel? I remember seeing pics on the Smaller Home Forum.

mona, thanks again, I am glad that you like my pics, and that some others like them too. I sure enjoy other peoples creative offerings that post here at GW and on blogs.

The only other thing I have gotten done lately was to add in a chandlier above the dining table. My fix-it guy is too busy now to come back with his new job. I will try to find someone to at least do the 6ft wide wall dividing the DR from the kitchen. Although I don't think I will be able to do too much else.

Unfortunatly my cancer has come back, and although I am fortunate enought to have insurance, the copays and paying out the deductable is using all the rest of my available money. I will try to post a pic of the DR with the chandlier and a new table-setting, but I am limited to my "good days", the chemo this time is really kicking my butt. But, we'll see how it goes.

Thanks again for your appreciation, it means alot to me, especially at this time in my life.

You definitely have a gift for not only with making the most beautiful tablescapes and vignettes, but also taking pictures of them that are just perfect.

I love all of your dinnerware, flatware - I'm just in awe. The green ceramic charger plates are exquisite.

I'm sorry to read your post about your cancer coming back, but look forward to seeing any future pictures you post when you're feeling better.

They are definitely magazine worthy!

Caroleoh, thank you for your kind words! I so enjoy doing photography, tablesettings, and decorating! Unfortunately with my cancer back it is really slowing me down physicially and financially.

I had bought the green charger plates at either T.J. Max or Marshalls a few years ago, there used to be much more of a selection then, but with this economy, the "pickings" are slim in my area.

Better late than never I suppose. Just a few photos of Christmas 2013.
The tree looks so much prettier in real life, it really did not photograph well....

Closeup of some of my collection of snowflakes, I have quite a few more, but this is all that I took of them so far.

Judith, your tree is simply stunning! Tho that's no surprise after seeing others in past years. Thank you for posting this over on Holidays to share with the gang there, we've really missed you.

I'm glad to hear you're doing well again after such a horrible battle with the cancer returning and the Chemo.

I've never seen these photos before, Judith, you've created an incredible feeling of "specialness" for all your guests. It's wonderful. I'm sorry to hear of your cancer and will support you with my prayers. Some journeys are just so much harder than others. I love that you continue using your creativity and keep it up, it's the doing that gets us through these tough times. God bless you.
