I think I know why I can't pick out a backsplash...

I hate my granite and know that once the backsplash goes in it's permanent, I have to live with it. It's been two years and I still hate the granite. Well, I like the granite, I hate the install job (scratches, huge gaps along wall, really bad seam, inconsistent edge and overhang). I love the actual granite and the color (Coast Green). But the install spoils it for me. Maybe honed carcutta marble?

But with 41 sf of granite (that doesn't include the island, hutch or desk) it wouldn't be cheap. I'd also have to get a new sink, I imagine.

Has anyone had granite removed without the cabinets getting damaged in the process? I'm not thinking of doing this right now, I am thinking I will wait a bit. What do you think?
