Looks like a round of food poisoning going on. Several states affected so it appears widespread. Wash and cook them for awhile.

How frightening! Thanks for passing that along. I rarely buy grocery store tomatoes (no taste.) I can't wait until I have homegrown tomatoes again (of course that means I need to finish planting them. I'm so behind!)

I managed to keep a chocolate mint alive all winter inside, then put it outside on a nice day last week, promptly forgot about it and found it frozen the next morning. It's all brown and crispy now, but I'm hoping it will re-sprout. If it does, I'm going to be reeeaaallly bad and plant it on city property. It can't be any worse than the Asian Honeysuckle or Purple Loosestrife that's growing along the lake.

Kenny, somewhere on here I believe I posted how an early spring day went from 27F outdoors in the morning to 45F in the afternoon . . . Nothing remarkable about that, especially here where clouds usually interfere with further warming at that time of year - somewhat, unlike Colorado. However, the clouds were not in the sky that afternoon. Instead, it was very clear - with sustained wind above 20mph! The result was I was dancing all afternoon to keep the temperature down inside the greenhouse! With an exhaust fan and a vent open, it still reached 82F! This is where even automatic systems would have limited value. I mean, I didn't want 40 degree wind BLASTing thru the greenhouse on top of the plants! Keep it "buttoned up" and the interior would quickly soar above 100F! I could have the same problem on a clear, still day with temperatures in the 20's. Fully automated systems would go crazy unless they were carefully adjusted and absolutely could NOT be trusted with these kinds of conditions. I know - "wet foliage = bad" but "roasting = worse." If nothing else can be done, wet down everything! Temperature 95F, interior soaked . . . it will be okay. Can't let it happen when the temperature is 45F outside. I mean, full ventilation is required so that the plants dry by sundown. Steve

Yes, definitely try out a bunch of color boards before deciding -- colors are so tricky and can look so different in context as opposed to on the computer screen. Whatever you choose, you will certainly wind up with a gorgeous workspace. I do recommend getting your chosen color made up in Benjamin Moore's Aura paint (they can match any other brand's color exactly) - it goes on so beautifully and is very washable. I'm loving mine in my kitchen, which by the way is an antique yellow that took about 8 tries to get right -- so don't be feeling bad about one little blue goof!! :)

Harry and Sam may "approve" too much! LOL I want to put the set out in the back yard. It's heavily shaded under the spruce trees and the bright yellow looks great there, but boy dogs being boy dogs... They "know" they are supposed to go in the far left corner of the back yard. Until Sam infiltrated our family, Harry never went anywhere else. I was very sick while Sam was a puppy and he was lucky when I could creep to the door, open it, and let him out once in a while. He would run out, bark and run, chase squirrels, and sprinkled everywhere. I'm still amazed he was so quick to figure out the "house training." He had only two tiny accidents right by the door. Those two were my fault for not being able to move fast enough to get the door open for his little baby bladder. Of course, once he started marking all the fences, and the trees, and the old telephone post, Harry took up the same habit. So I don't think I should put the chairs there. Everything on the patio is "safe" for some odd reason, but any thing in the back yard is fair game. We pick up the large yard twice a day; it's always clean and fresh out there, but they will still mark. I'll be getting photos of all the treasures, soon. Of course, I have been wanting DH to build an arbor/gazebo/deck/ramada type structure, raised about 18" from ground level that would solve all the problems. Someday.

Thanks Jessy! It's nice to be around again. This spring was a little crazier (and not in a good way) than I wanted. Below is the short & sweet as to how spring has been.

To stay on topic, I just emailed this link to a bunch of friends and family members. I hate that this stuff keeps happening. I had heard earlier in the spring there was another scare with salmonella and cantaloupes.

Great, I'm in Texas this week and I just brought home some fresh tomatoes from the grocery store. Guess we won't be having them on a salad or sandwich!

This just conjurs up images of people in the fields picking veggies and not having anywhere to "do" their bathroom business (or not wanting to interrupt the picking because it will affect the money that is earned for the day), so it gets done in the fields! Equally as gross is thinking of people doing their business and not washing their hands.

Ewwww, ick. Didn't we have something like this with spinach a while back?
