What's for dinner Monday?

We're having fish sandwiches and tomato/cucumber salad with the last of our Harry & David pears. They're so good!

Big BCS game starts at 8:00 EST. Hope I can stay awake for the whole game.

We had our leftover pot roast, patting ourselves on the back since we rarely eat leftovers!

Made your sticky chicken today Patti.
I forgot to put the onions in, and the bird was a tad fatty....there was a lot of fat to baste it with. I actually drained it off and turned her over so the breast would dry out.

The flavour was good, but then I always put lots of paprika and spice blend on my roast chickens anyway.

Rhizo, Happy Anniversary! I made potato salad and 15# of ribs on the smoker. DIL brought beans and rice DS made his pretzel sticks, DD brought fruit salad and cool whip and soy milk to make chocolate pie with the pudding mixed DIL brought. I had the graham crust. I have leftovers! DH had to work this afternoon but worked hard before he went by getting the ribs ready and on the smoker and our big canopy put up so we had shade for the day. Tami

Prairie Rose, do you barbecue all winter long, or was it because the weather was nicer today? Morz I love a well-done roast, and the slow cooker makes it easy. I also love cranberries in my salad. Have you tried them with roasted brussels sprouts? That's a favourite with us. Monica I made sweet potato fries last week and we loved them. The last time I tried baking them, they oozed out over my oven. I didn't realize they cooked so much faster than white potatoes. Rhizo, I love reading your dinner threads. You are so darn healthy! BLF, isn't it nice when a recipe from a fellow member turns into a keeper? Shirley, I wasn't sure if today classified as a "holiday" today (Family Day) so I made sure I roasted my vegetables before 5 pm to at least get the mid-rate hydro rate. I hate the smart meters. Moni, I add cheddar cheese to my broccoli soup. Probably negates any positive benefits of the broccoli, but it sure tastes good.

Jim congratulations on your upcoming cruise! I love it that you had wine with bacon and eggs. Audrey, your dinner looks and sounds fabulous. We had baked potatoes last nite. Shirley, I've yet to make red beans and rice. What's throwing me off from making it, much as I'd like to, is that we only have kidney beans, as far as a red bean, and I know that isn't the kind to use. I made quinoa with toasted almonds and red currants the other day. We like quinoa. Kath, for some reason companies change their recipes. In the event of making things healthier, taste gets compromised. Less fat and salt is less flavour it seems. Prairie Rose, do you make the light fluffy dumplings? That's what my Nan made and that's all I've ever known. I've never attempted it; I should! Raven, that looks divine!! We love roasted vegetables! Erin, I hope you feel better. That's dedication, coming onto a dinner thread when you're not feeling that great. Betsy, that's nice comfort food. Gyr_Falcon, that's a great sounding meal! Glad to see you here.

Gorgeous day here today. I made grilled chicken breast in cacciatore sauce with sliced fresh little tomatoes and served it over fettuccine topped with grated cheeses. It was awesome. I should have made garlic bread to go with it.

I left the house at 9:30 this morning to play bridge after which I ran errands. I wasn't getting home till around 5:00. DH didn't tell me not to buy towels, he said stay out of the stores period! Obviously I was in the stores for several hours so to make sure he would be in a good mood when I got home, I stopped and picked up Chinese. He loves Chinese. Hey, I wasn't born yesterday. Besides, I really didn't feel like cooking when I got home. I made everybody happy.

Potluck luncheon today: Our host smoked a pork roast and everyone brought something to go with it.

I took my AK cole slaw, and I was co-hosting, and took white bbq sauce. Went early to help but he had everything perfectly setup.

21 attended and no duplications on food, yea!

I just finished working for the day, started at 730 this morning. Thank heaven I had the fore thought to brown the stew meat so that I had a head start on the beef stew. It was so good!

I had ribs, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, leftovers from my noon meal on Sunday.

We had Crock Pot Roast, mashed potatoes, sauteed yellow squash and zuchinni, and watermelon as our fruit.Not bad and plenty of meat left over for Hot Roast Beef sandwiches tomorrow night.

We had steak, rice and delicious Brussels sprouts. I had never cooked fresh ones until the other day. Those were okay but these were so very good.

Picked up some loaded potato soup at costco, so that and some grands flaky biscuits.
