Do you mean the 2077 washer and 3777 dryer? If so, I have that set. I love mine. I purchased the set to replace the 2277 washer and matching dryer that I had to leave when we sold our previous home. I went down a model because I rarely used the extra feature that the 2277 had and I didn't think it was worth the $200 difference in price between the two washers. My only negative is that on occasion it takes longer for the washer to get the load balanced to spin than it did in a top loader. Also, if I am washing whites on hot and I forget a sock, the door will not unlock to allow me to add it. This is not unique to LG though. It is a safety feature on most front loaders.

I have noticed a savings in my water bill using a front loader set. At first it takes some getting used to. You won't see waves of water sloshing around like you do in a top loading set. It will look like your clothes are just wet being tumbled. They will be clean though. Make sure you use HE detergent or you'll get too many suds. Front loaders do take longer to wash but dry times are shorter, so you will probably come out the same in the end to wash and dry a load of clothes. In my house, I usually do all my wash on one day so as it turns out, one load is finished drying in about the same time one load is finished washing. In my top loader, I would have baskets of wet clothes waiting to go into the dryer since it took twice as long to dry as it did to wash.

There is a LENGTHY thread from a member who had warranty issues that in my opinion were mostly with GE warranty service. I have good LG service in my area (I have an LG fridge that needed repair--no problems with the service I got)

I've never owned a Bosch washer and dryer, so I don't have anything to compare my LG set to. I can say that I am very happy with my LG set. So happy that I had no reservations about purchasing a second set.

It is the 2077 I purchased. Thank you for your reply. I am happy to read a positive comment. I think I read too much and overthink a purchase. I have been happy with Whirlpool and Maytag toploaders for many years. I am now stepping into new terratory with a front loader. Once I have the opportunity to use one I will have a better idea. I believe your washer does not have a heater.. If I'm correct on that assumption and if you still have chance to return, I would get one w/ a heater. It is my understanding that the LG's w/heaters do heat water in most cycles. This would result in a warmer "warm" and a hotter "Hot" as the incoming warm and cold water may not compensate for the "coldness" of the SS drum which would result in a cooler overall temp.

I believe that heater is necessary for the sanitary cycle. I would not use that cycle enough to justify the extra $100. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
I always use a warm water wash. I was told that the washer adjusts the entering water temp necessary for the cycle. Who knows. I just want a working pair that use less water and electricity. I found it interesting that the dryer is not vented.

I have just spent a few hours getting an education on this forum on the front loaders. The threads on kitchenaid and the maytag epic had alot of info in general about FL's.
One thing I wanted to point out is that someone (who seemed to know what they were talking about :) ) wrote that the sanitizing cycle is actually not for the clothes but for the machine. If the machine smells musty you run it empty with some bleach through this cycle. There apparently had been an early problem with water in the gaskets and mold.
I know what you mean about decision overload. I have been in a 2 year addition/remodel. And it has definitely been a 2nd job. But I am always so glad for checking things out on these forums!

That sounds reasonable to me. There are very few clothes that we own that I would want to wash in hot water and have not had any reason in the past for a sanitizer.
Just thinking, why could I not run an empty wash load with hot water and bleach? The water may not reach max sanitizing temp., but the bleach should kill any mildew present.

the heater is necessary for the sanitary cycle, but it is also effective on the warm and hot cycles to assure that you have a constant warm/hot temperature. It'll give you better cleaning results, but some people report that they get very good results without the heater as well. It is a personal decision if you want to spend some extra money.

By the way, it is correct that FLs have longer wash cycles than TLs. Most of the energy is needed to heat up the water for warm or hot cycles. FLs use A LOT less water so you save a lot of energy (electricity or gas) by heating up smaller amounts. The rotation of the drum does not take much electricity at all.

I haven't read the statement about the sanitary cycle that you quote. It is, however, just partially true. The main reason for having the sanitary cycle is to wash and sanitize things like towels, sheets, dish rags and so on. Not all fabrics can be washed that hot, so you have to be a little careful about using that cycle.
If you hardly ever do a (real) hot wash, the sanitary cycle can be used to keep the washer free of detergent residue and mold. Some washers have a cycle specifically designated for this purpose. It is not really necessary though.
It is important to leave the door of a FL open after using it and possibly wiping off the door gasket if water collects in there. Also make sure not to use too much detergent. If you keep doing this you shouldn't have a problem even with a washer without a heater.

I just called LG customer service for more information.
The heater provided in certain models is mostly needed for hot water cycles.
Once you are finished washing for the day you should keep your door open for a half hour to be sure the inside of the washer dries out preventing mildew. You should also wipe the gasket area keeping it clean and dry.
On the dryer it is not advisable to use dryer sheets as they coat the drying sensors. They stated to use fabric softners in the washer instead. I mentioned that I read that the softners could have a coating effect on the unit, they advised to dilute the softner.
I am going to stay with my first choice. My house water heater is adjustable for temp. I can raise it if necessary for a seldom used very hot wash and it will offer plenty of hot water to do the job. This machine only uses 14 gal. Also, it is one less option to have problems with down the road.
I can now find something else to worry about.

I'd recommend you call a couple of local applicance dealers. Talk to their repair staff and parts desk. Ask them about any problems they have seen and about any issues in getting parts quickly to fix the machines. Also ask them about other brands/machines and their experience.

I can only tell you that I've had an awful experience with LG products. Service has been difficult and parts hard to get. I personally will never own another LG product.

I've had 6 repairs on my LG 2277 in 2 years, while my friend has the same model and not a single problem.

I have a different set than you, but my LG washer has the heater in it. According to the manual, the sanitary cycle is not for the machine (although I'm sure there are benefits if the machine smells musty), it claims to be for clothes that are really dirty. "Heavily soiled underwear, work clothes, diapers, etc.". So, that's what the heater is for.

I'm not sure about my water consumption, because I hav ea well and as such I can only guess at how much water I actually use. However the thing definitely looks to consume less water than a top loader, judging from how little water I see in the machine during its cycles. My clothes get extremely clean, cleaner than I've ever had them with any other machine. When I pull them out of he washer, even with a slow spin speed (which is what I normally go with), they are almost dry, so the dryer doesn't have to work very hard.

I bought my set refurbished in October. On Thursday, I had a hiccup with the washing machine where it threw an "LE" code, but now it's working just fine after letting it sit for a few days. I'm trying to find out if this is just a hiccup or something to be concerned about, but it seems to just be a fluke. Although you may not need all the bells and whistles (I certainly haven't used most of them), these machines are quiet, smooth-operating, sure appear to use minimal power and water, and they're friendly! (they give a happy ding when you turn them off and when they're done)
