I will probably make some chili and maybe some wings, too. Puppy will have some filet mignon.....at least that's what we tell her she's eating. LOL

I plan to have dinner at our church. Never plan for the Super Bowl, I don't watch it. Can't get the Puppy Bowl.

OK am I the only one who doesn't know what the puppy bowl is??

Animal Planet carries puppy bowl. They put a bunch of puppies in a room that looks like a football field and let them run around. Very cute. They have kittens at half time.

Satine, I didn't know what the Puppy Bowl is either. But then, I barely understand the Super Bowl. ;-)

The Puppy Bowl is a hoot! Lots os puppies, lots of toys, lots of cameras. They have a play by play announcer, a referee, and fake crowd noise.

The whole thing, including the kitty half time show, is a funny takeoff of the Super Bowl. We actually watch the football game, but switch to the PB quite a bit. There are always two or three dogs out of the batch that are hilarious.

Bar-B-Que ribs for Sunday, but think I'll add Puppy Chow Treats for a snack - served in dog bowls, of course... I love Nutella so I found a recipe using it instead of peanutbutter. I'll just add 'dog bowl' to some extra plastic bowls to serve... Here's the recipe
Nutella Puppy Chow
Makes 13 cups

13 cups (or one 12 ounce box of Chex cereal)
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup Nutella
2-3 cups powdered sugar (as needed to coat the cereal)

1. Measure out cereal into a very large bowl and set aside.
2. In a medium saucepan, over low heat, melt the butter and chocolate chips until smooth.
3. Remove from heat and stir in Nutella until combined, then pour over cereal and toss gently with two forks until cereal is completely covered. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top and toss again gently until cereal is coated in sugar and no longer sticky.
4. Spread out on parchment paper and allow to cool completely. Once cool, store in an airtight container or ziplock bag, or enjoy immediately!

I've never seen it but it sound like so much more fun than the "Stupor" Bowl. It's pretty bad TV when the ads are more interesting than the show being played, IMHO.

We're having ham and cheese sliders (aka funeral sanwiches), guacamole w/ tortilla chips and beer or wine. Maybe I'll make something sweet--that puppy chow sounds really good! Thanks, Grandma Bonnie.

I'm more the Puppy Bowl type but Superbowl is a big day around here. For the socializing I think because DH doesn't really care that much about professional sports, much prefers college or even high school.

I've begged off having everyone here, I'm just too busy, not quite settled in my roomier house, and have been painting, cleaning, my former home to get it ready to list for sale. I'll have a group that large when some of it can spill into outside and the patio, and I won't be committing myself to 20 men with plates of lasagne and chicken on my new furniture over blond living room carpet, creamy berber in my office/TV room :)

I think I'll send salmon spread and crackers, a platter of stuffed mushrooms and some wine, call it good. If I finish for the day at the other house, or take a break around half time (those commercials, you know), I may go join the party long enough for a bite to eat - unless DH offers to leave his friends long enough to deliver.

We might be doing crab... it is on sale that week at Savemart for 3.99 a pound. It is just the two of us... I will have cheese and crackers and other stuff. If the game gets bad, we may be switching to watch the puppies.

Easy, and a made-up recipe, but I either buy canned red salmon on sale or can my own (King/chinook), you want the red or sockeye and not the pink canned salmon for this -
Did you ever notice that commercially canned pink salmon is more gray than pink?

Hannah's Salmon Spread
One or two 15 Oz size canned red salmon, drained, any skin removed, flaked
8 oz cream cheese
16 oz sour cream (if making for a smaller group, cut back to 1 part cream cheese to 2 parts sour cream in the amounts you need)
To taste:
Chopped dill
dash tabasco
onion salt

Mix the cream cheese and sour cream together till smooth, add the seasonings, stir in salmon last. I don't beat after adding salmon, only mix, I want flakes of salmon in the spread not an all pink spread - but it would taste the same either way.

I made this for a family appetizer when my niece Hannah was about 2 yrs old and she all but dove into it. It's been a staple for family things ever since - one Easter I did not make it and she was so disappointed her Dad went to the store and bought the ingredients, we made it together. She's 21 now :)

LOL Patti. A friend gave me that recipe for the ham sandwiches and she calls them funeral sandwiches, too. She makes up a plate for the families when someone dies.
