I've finally become an oatmeal convert

I'm one of those here who has never been able to get over the "consistency thing" about oatmeal, regardless of brand, steel cut vs. regular, cooking method, etc. Last night, in yet another attempt to like something I so want to like, I picked up a brand I hadn't seen before locally - Silver Palate Thick & Rough Oatmeal.

It has large flakes compared to other brands. I cut the water back a little, and ended up with oatmeal that I can honestly say is delicious. A little chewy, rather than mushy, and almost nutty in flavor. I added a banana and a few raisins and almonds. Yum.

I cooked it on the stove because every time I've tried oatmeal in the microwave it's overflowed, regardless of the depth of the dish. Eight minutes was perfect.

Just found it on sale at Amazon using a discount code until the end of the month. Link below for anyone else who's interested.
