We Were Suppose To Get 1' to 2' Of Snow....

but we ended up with 5.5" Light fluffy stuff, which is good.....BUT we are suppose to get wind now! Iowa winters, so fun! LOL Here is Dean out with the snow blower this morning! (not a great pic, I couldn't get the front door open so I was getting a fogged up window!)

OKAY...the title was to be 1 INCH to 2 INCHES! I changed it, but apparently you can't use " in the titles???

Whooo- I didn't think you had that much more snow than we had! LOL!

We had about the same. But it was more than we expected.

We went to town to see the show last night, and it took me three shots to get up my lane.

sometimes the ball bearings in the recoil that engage when you pull the rope will stick if the get dry, or sometimes to greasy, and wont engage. I say pull the engine cover off and inspect the ratchet part on the engine crank end, bet it turns both ways, or is broken.If the rope feels fine, then probably nothing wrong with rope/pulley and cover, unless some way the squarish hole that engages the crank end got rounded out.

Yeah the 2011 "Snowtober" was incredible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Halloween_nor%27easter There was a light dusting here but only 20 miles north as the crow flies the higher elevations of Lancaster Co. had up to 10 inches. Some neighborhoods in Connecticut were w/o power for 11 days, there were so many downed trees. I'm beginning to be glad I didn't plant anything tenderish like Camellias this year. I thought "three cold winters in a row would be almost unprecedented, but that's what they said about 2011, 2011, and 2012 being extremely hot summers in a row." It really feels like a repeat of 2014, already, which also started with a cold autumn. Of course with a huge El Nino this year, were are supposed to have an average winter in temps...but the Siberian snow forecast guy is saying "cold winter, but not as cold as the last two." Glad you got your answers. I did not expect you to know about how to construct a shower, but your complaint about the slope sounded like that seemed wrong to you. If you were complaining about shower slope, looking up the slope seemed the first step. Now that I have read Blubird's and your further comments, I see that your pictures are not showing the curb from inside the shower, but from outside. From this angle, now that I know to look for it, I see that there is a row of lighter colored,long narrow pieces of tile that may be quarter round or may just be flat pieces, and then the shower floor. Is this section at an angle, or flat with the top of the shower floor? If it is flat on the floor, then it is, indeed, as high as the curb, I am hoping that it is at an angle to give you a little bit of curb and some peace of mind. I was not noticing the size of the tile under the rosin paper. It would have been a give away that this was the room floor. Now that you have explained it more, I understand. Did the shower hold the water to your satisfaction? I imagine you are on a concrete slab and it was built this way for ease of construction. I have no idea if this is proper or not. Curbless showers are done everyday now, and though they make some people nervous, others do like them. I am doing one, though mine will have a linear drain across the front so water should not escape. As far as I know, once a post is up for a while, you can't erase it. About all you can do is put a comment in the comment section saying it was answered elsewhere.

Hi Sandy - and Dean,

I saw a Polk Cty., Iowa licence in the TSC parking lot the other day, sought the guy out. He's a res. of Des Moines (I thought probably so). Sue grew up in Des Moines ... her Mom lived in Ankeny when I was involved ('63 on our return from Korea till '71) and her Dad in Tipton.

I'm of the opinion that I like to leave the shovelling till the snowing is finished.

I know! I know! We have to wash dishes frequently - don't wait till every dish is used!

What's that? One doesn't wait till every dish is used?

P.S. It's snowing here, too ... but I have little shovelling to do, as landlord does most of it with his tractor. A sod farmer, this is his off-season ... so he's bound for Mexico on Mon.

Sometimes I have trouble getting out of the back door, as I must push it with the door if more than about 2" deep - and the wind likes to drop it there in front of the door.

The wind whistles through between the porch and the garage at speed - skimmed my new "Merry Christmas" baseball cap off in a trice on Christmas Eve. After dropping packages, went out for a fruitless search, using my new flashlight. Found it in tractor rut on Christmas morning, frozen in, en route to getting a shovel to chop it out, slipped on ice, dropped on my rear in snowbank.

Going to Christmas supper, slipped on glare ice on sidewalk in city, fell heavily ... no hurt for a couple of days ... but back still giving me frequent notification of its dissatisfaction with such dastardly treatment.

It's improving - some. I see the doc on Thursday ... mainly for the recently initiated swelling on my feet. I'm some disgusted with those feet - surely they could've waited a month ... till past my 80th birthday milestone!

We have at least 10" maybe more, and still snowing. Supposed to stop for tomorrow with forcast of partly cloudy. We'll see!

OJ, we are to old to fall down on anything! I did it on Tues evening when we had freezing rain. I am also still sore. Hope you are feeling better soon, and don't fall anymore!

sandy_in_ia, apparently your forecasters and ours got switched in the mail or something. We were supposed to get 5-7" and got about an inch.

However, MY forecast was correct! :D

Now my forecast for tonight: Dark. Lightening by daylight.
