It's our Maytag Dryer that shreds our clothing. It shreds Everything. No matter how much clothes or how little clothes I put into that dryer- as it tumbles everything moves up to the front of the dryer (closer to the door) then the force of the tumble throws the clothes against the holes in the top of the lint catch (which aren't sharp in any way, the plastic is perfectly smooth) but the force of the tumble causes the clothes to get caught in them and then ripped away causing it to shred. Not only is the dryer a horrible, clothes shredding, money eater but the washer literally eats our clothes. Anything as big or smaller than a wool adult sock (which are rather quite large) also gets moved to the front of the washer where there's a rather large gap between the barrel of the washer and the door where things easily slip down then go down the drain and get caught in the catch clogging it. Anything that gets sucked down the drain then quickly is ruined by all the rest of the crap trying to go down the drain. We live in a tight apartment so trying to pull out a stacked dryer/washer in a small closet doorway is a nightmare so we bought mesh bags hoping to help but sadly the mesh bags come open regularly as they're being thrown around by the washer no matter what brand we've tried. They help somewhat but we're still pulling out the washer/dryer a couple times a month to fix it. Now that we have face masks we have to wash regularly the nightmare of this Maytag washer/dryer combo is at an all time high. I will never trust Maytag again and until we get enough money to replace these nightmare causing machines we're stuck with them.

* Also, doesnt the Bravos have a soak cycle on it? Yes, it does. You can choose how long you want it to last, according to soil level. And you can let it continue until it's through, or you can Pause the washer and let laundry soak longer. * I thought in the owners manual it said it does, but it will drain and stop after the soak cycle runs. Yes, it does, when the Soak cycle finishes. * I actually wash my work jeans and T shirts on sanitary cycle in my HE3T with soak cycle. The Bravos 850 also has a sanitary cycle. * How hot does the sanitary cycle her in yours, anyone know? I've never taken its temp, but it gets REALLY hot. I think the manual tells how hot it gets. * Its nice of you to remember me Mara, Im not on here much anymore, been working a pile of mandatory overtime all summer long :( but now I can pay cash for the new set when decide on what to get. Me too, gates -- working longer hours. Glad to know you're getting overtime! The increased pay sure does help. It is SO NICE to be able to pay cash for appliances and other big purchases. * One more question..what exactly is the "deep rinse"? DOes it fill more than the wash cycle or just not the spray rinse that is on the bravos. I rarely use the spray rinse, simply because I must use the deep rinse in order to use fabric softener or vinegar (or both). I'm assuming it does use more water than the spray rinse. My dd has used the spray rinse when she's washed her clothes (usually on the Quick Wash, when she's in a hurry for a particular outfit). Her clothes came out fine. I hope this helps! And I hope you get a break from so many hours soon -- after you've paid cash for the new set, of course. ;)

Pull the dryer away from the wall so there's room for the console to rotate back while the top rests against the wall without falling forward. Open the lint screen lid and remove the two screws. The top is held down by two clips at the front corners. Slip a putty knife under the edge to depress the clips while lifting upward on the top. Raise the top completely up and back against the wall. Disconnect the door switch wiring harness plug. Remove the two screws from the inside of the cabinet front. Lift the front panel and unhook it from the hangers at the bottom corners. You may have to remove the drum for access to the ignitor and burner. The motor and idler pulley are on the right side toward the rear. Reach under the drum and push the idler pulley arm to release the spring pressure and remove the belt from the motor pulley. Remove the two LOWER screws holding the front bulkhead in place. LOOSEN the top two screws. Lift the bulkhead and unhook it from the top screw keyslots, remove it from the dryer. Lift the drum off the rear support rollers and remove it from the cabinet. You can slip the belt out from between the rear of the drum and the back bulkhead first, or remove the belt with the drum. Do whatever work you need in regards to installing the LP conversion kit. Reassemble the dryer. When reinstalling the drum, be sure the hole in the drum with the metal clip in it is toward the rear. Place the drum atop the rear support rollers. Make sure the rear felt seal is positioned properly. And make sure the belt is around the drum (not yet hooked around the motor pulley). Replace the front bulkhead, make sure the front support rollers are beneath the drum. Make sure the front felt seal is in proper position. Reach under the drum and hook the belt into place. Replace the cabinet front. Don't forget to reconnect the door switch wiring harness. Drop the cabinet top back into place. Replace the two screws under the lint filter lid. Hope I didn't miss anything.

Unfortunately we purchased this piece of junk, the Bravos XL to the tune of nearly a thousand dollars, thinking "heavy duty commercial" would bring a decent machine to last mare than a year or so. Should I suppose have gone with a Samsung. within a year or so we got the dreaded "LF". It happens at least once during a minimum of half the washes we do, on all settings....hot cold, "power wash", delicate, bedding, etc. etc. Beside the fact that every was seems to take a half day to finish, and the "LF" error, its been a wonderful experience. After about a year and a half of reshifting loads, trying to put the heavy at the top, then the bottom, without success, I just resigned myself to the fact the machine is and always will be a piece of crap; One day, when I was in the appliance dept at Home Depot, where I purchased it with a ten year extended "warranty", fresh from a bout of fighting the machine, I walked into the appliance department where we purchased it. What followed was what can only be described as a comedy of errors. First of all the saleswoman interrogated me as to why I had waited so long (apparently she has no concept of "we actually have a life outside of the laundry room"), she reluctantly looked up our transaction only to tell us she could find no record of our purchase, of the machine or the supposed "warranty". After informing me that a customer had just been in and told her that this was the best machine he'd ever had, I became adamant that I wanted SOME kind of answer. She didn't understand why it would upset me to find that home depot, which has a computer system to rival the pentagon, would have no record of my purchases less than two years prior. She proceeded to call HD "service", where she got busy signal after busy signal. Until reading the prior discussion, I had been seriously considering going back to HD and buying the biggest sledge hammer they sell and beating this pile of sheet metal into nothingness.... but now that I realize someone has the answer I'll contact HD and exercise my non existent 10 year "warranty" until these incompetents fix it.
