Frozen drink machines..need to purchase one!

I was going to buy the Margaritaville machine but they are expensive and dont make that much...I looked at the El Paso Chile Company dual machine on JC Penny web its on sale for 149.00 anyone own one that they can recommend! I usually entertain a crowd so the thought of standing at the outdoor bar constantly making more is "not a good thing" to me. I have a built in bar keg system which is great but Id like to get the slushee style machine I had one last summer but after all its use I went to make drinks this weekend and it was leaking all over the place more was on the counter than the glass so we tossed it.

We have one made by Parrot Ice we bought at a charity auction. It makes a very large amount, not for a small party gathering at all. Works extremely well, but you have to have a dedicated outlet at a higher amp than a regular household outlet. It is the kind you see in bars/restaurants. Very nice to have if you have lots of large parties. We have the one dispenser/flavor, but they also have two. Is this what you are talking about? If so, you can probably rent one and try it out before investing in one.

well extra power is not a problem as DH is an electrician.....the price tag is,so im looking for a store bought one the commercials one i looked at even at the wholesaler starta $1000.00. Just curious what did you pay for yours?

Have you tried the frozen Bacardi mixers? If it's syrup you want try some of the DaVinci syrups...I use them in coffee, desserts, and iced tea. You can really be creative with them. Given increasing and probably irreversible globalization, in ten years it may be hard to have a varied diet if one limits oneself to "grown/processed/packaged in the USA." Look at Walmart: they'd go out of business next week if consumers refused to buy stuff from them of foreign origin. A lot of raw veggies and fruits in my grocery stores, local produce stands, and even "farmers markets" do not indicate country of origin. When they get unboxed and put out for sale, the employees may not even know for sure where some of them originally came from.

I think that's a great idea to have that in the kitchen kids will love it, I think you can lock it up when you want too so your kids don't go crazy. Anyway I live here in Utah and theres actually a company out here called Soda Tech Inc. their website is http://www.sodabuzz.com They offer a full line of home Soda Fountain Systems and I think the bar gun your talking about you can get up to a 100' remote system, so you would really only have one line running to the kitchen with how many ever flavors you'd want. I think they can install it for you but im not sure out of state. As far as the unhealthy part of it all, they have health and sport drinks you can buy in 5 or 3 gallon boxes, I think the latest I heard they offer is that rice drink, horchatta or something like that. Then if you drink alot of soda anyway this would be well worth it, I think it equalled out to be something like 6 to 18 cents per 12 ounces. A 5 gallon box makes about 30 gallons of soda so you do the math.

We got ours at an auction (now that I think about it, it was a fundraiser for a private school, not a charity) for $1300, which was a great deal as I know they are much more retail.

I have 2 "Back to Basics" smoothie frozen drink machines. I've had them for 4-5 years. I keep one on the boat and have one for at home. They get a lot of use and abuse. For parties, I premix the cocktail mix. The container is marked to tell you how much mix and how much ice to add. You can make 2 or 4 drinks at a time. The stirrer stick rests in the top and keeps everything smooth i.e. no freeze ups. The machine must be running to dispense through the spigot but it works well. Clean up is easy, everything comes apart. I wash it on the top rack of the dishwasher with no problems. These machines were very inexpensive under $50 each and have taken a lot of abuse. I used these a few weeks ago for a party of 130. Everyone was able to make their own drinks and the machines performed admirably given the volume. I'd love a Parrot Ice machine, it's a great machine but alas with 2 kids in college I'll have to be content with my little machines.

Moosemac yours sounds like the one i had that broke but in the company's defense it was used to the max. A normal get together at my house is never under 35 this happens several times a month and at summertime forget it... I have a party at my house this Sat for 50 and on the 26th I have 120 coming.

I just did a search..There is no way you'll find the size machine you are looking for in your price range.

If this is something you use alot and it seems important to your entertainment plans..You might just have to convince hubby to invest in one.

A brandnew Bunn2 (bottom machine on the link above) is $1769.99 from my local Business Warehouse Costco.
To bad my weather isn't warm enough to buy one of these for my concession stand..It may take me two seasons to pay for it..but after that..good money..

terri Thanks i would love too but I just cant...I like the Oaisis brand all the bars on Fire Island use them, but again out of the budget. I may start a little envelope and save for one by next summer in the interim i think Ill buy the El Paso one online a JCPenny
