What's for dinner Thursday?

Shoot! I hit "Preview" and thought I'd hit "Post" but guess I didn't since I somehow ended up on my home page.

What I'd said was we'd been to VA, got home around 11:30, went to gas up the car and do a little grocery shopping, after Harry rested some (took a nap). He wanted to go get the car washed, too, but I talked him into doing it tomorrow since it takes forever because they do it by hand inside and out (for $22).

We're having potato chowder for dinner tonight. It was in the freezer, so no cooking for me tonight. We'll have it with some saltines and fruit, probably pears.

I had home grown green beans, home grown mashed potatoes, beef and noodles. The potatoes and the beef cooked in the microwave pressure cooker. I also have a small blue berry pie for him to eat. I have no idea what time he will be home for supper.

We are having veal marsala but it got late so we are skipping the pasta and veg we were going to have with it.

wow, chicken livers... haven't had them in a LONG time. Sauteed chicken livers used to be a comfort food for me! Most people I know now would rather starve than be forced to eat a chicken liver. I can't imagine a restaurant selling them. lol! Great. Now I'm craving either chicken liver, beef liver, or liverwurst. ;p Good thing I have a chocolate cake in the oven! :)

Old Fixer, I find that the weeds are terrible to pull when the soil is bone dry. I usually leave the root in the soil. :( Fun, I smiled when I read what your dinner was. Did you pop it on the stove, or microwave? We had chili from the freezer. I like mine over rice with a dollop of yogurt to tame the heat.

Deeby, I cooked a large ham in my stock pot with green beans and potatoes. We love that all simmered together. Kittie, a pot pie sounds wonderful. Did you make it from scratch? Angela, at least you offset the cheese toast with an artichoke! LOL OF, I know that Buffalo stadium was looking for about 500 people to shovel in time for the Bills Game. But they recanted that tonite and cancelled the game. Phyllis, you and Old Fixer were on the same wave-length with your lasagnas. Pam, we love roast chicken, and I always make broth from the roasted bones. Haven't attempted soup yet, though. Shirley, our landlords do appreciate us. They tell us that, and they share their bounty from their garden with us, and let us use part of it to plant whatever we wanted. Shirley you eat so well. Very healthy, and an apple to boot.

Same as yesterday -- Various snacks, cheeses, hors d'oeuvres, mini sandwiches, chocolate-dipped fruits, and brownies at a Christmas party. Yesterday was a retirement party for the head of the University Library where I work, today was a shindig put on by a large realty firm at which friends of ours work.

That microwave pressure cooker sounds neat.

I had a chicken breast, potato, and peas for my meal. All kind of blah/bland, but it filled the stomach.

Eons ago when I worked in the city, they had a car wash like you mentioned, Patti. I loved handing over the keys, then walking the long hallway through the building, watching through big windows as they cleaned my car inside and out. They also wiped it down when finished so there was no water streaking or dripping anywhere. And I don't think I've ever had cleaner windows.

Sue, I read your pressure cooker post. That sure sounds good. Isn't it a good feeling to eat veggies you've grown yourself? I gardened in Indiana, but this sandy soil and different growing times blows my tiny mind. Green beans are a March/April vegetable. It just doesn't seem right to me! Tomatoes are coming in right now here and strawberries have been in the markets for about a month!

Pam, chicken marsala doesn't need anything but it's delicious self!

Shirley, I think your dinner sounds good, much like we usually have. I like that pressure cooker in the microwave, too. They have them on Amazon for much less than other sites. Some are used, but who cares, right? They do a good job at that car wash for the money. Tomorrow will be the first day I go along. (Usually it's a good way to get Harry out of the house so I can actually accomplish something ;-)

I cannot tell a lie...We had warm apple pie alamode. I did feel a little guilty, so set out a plate of assorted fresh veggies and fat free ranch dip. We ate a little of the veggies, then dug into the pie... it was really good and the guilt trip didn't last long.

we had a soup i made with smoked sausage, that was pretty good. had grilled cheese sandwiches with it. :)

Ina Garten's Lentil Vegetable Soup, except (I hate when people do this LOL) I didn't have any leeks and I had to leave out the tomato paste. But it was very good anyway!
