What's for dinner Tuesday?

Nothing exciting happening here. Guess that may be a good thing. I'm not really hungry--made sausage balls this afternoon and ate some (well, more than some) while watching Georgia beat Nebraska--yaa!! Tonight we're having ham and cheese sliders. Basically, ham and cheese on little rolls with mayo, and a sauce of melted butter, poppyseeds, mustard, Wochestershire sauce and minced onion poured over the top. Bake a while covered then uncover and bake a little more. Wish I'd made a pasta salad. Don't know what else we'll have.

Glad I ran to store yesterday, cause today's forecast was not goot RAIN and we've had lots of rain and fog.

Fried me a nice piece of ham,and had it with peas and snaps, mixed greens, skillet oorn from the can, not the best, and broccoli salad from walmart, which I so enjoy

Munching on a piece of ham with mayo while I watch for the second time Julia va Julie. Love that movie.

I had my usual New Years Day fare..... pork, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes. I shared some with my son when he came to shovel my walks, etc.

Sue, both your dinner and Norm's sound delicious. Hope you are staying warm. It seems the worst of the weather is over and the nation will get back to half-way decent temperatures. Pam, yes I can taste one speck of pepper in a dish. Normally, I love pepper. I can't remember whether it was the chemo or radiation that caused it, but I do know my taste buds are whacky now. Sure hope they go back to normal soon. Panera's broccoli/cheese is my fav! Raven, what can I say but "YUM". You are such a good cook! Laura, I'm surprised you are able to eat after Glenda fed you, but a little chicken stir-fry never hurt anyone :-) Shirley, I haven't tried the chipped beef. It looks like that polar vortex is on it's way out so we will all be happy to get out of the house come the weekend! Kittiemom, enjoy the pot pie! Jasdip, how nice of them to invite you to their Christmas celebration. I could eat my weight in baklava. It is just too delicious!!

That sounds so good, terri! Actually, everyone's supper (or lunch) sounds good. Robert asked for oven baked chicken pieces again. I basted the legs and thighs with a doctored BBQ sauce (added tobacco and apple vinegar) for the first half, then made a glaze out of that plus apricot preserves. It is sooooooo good! Sweet, sour, and spicy. Also made a batch of cheese biscuits and my cole slaw. He was a happy man! I'm always glad when he actually asks for something in particular....he helps with supper, by the way. He likes kitchen duty.

I cooked up a batch of my rice and mixed grains with added quinoa, celery, carrots, and onions tossed in with the broth at the very beginning. I added some smoked sausage half way through, cut into half inch rounds and a couple of big handfuls of kale at the end. Hot sauce to taste! Yum. This concoction is also great with chicken or shrimp....or as a side dish. Nice on a cold evening.

That pizza burger sounds scrumptious with mac and cheese, Tami! But I'd probably go with your hamburger. With a thick slice of onion and lots of mayo!!! Cheryl, I tried rendering lard once. It was okay but not anything special for the toil! I do love me some fried taters. Terri, I haven't tried roasting cauliflower but I've seen pictures on Pinterest and it looks good. I do like roasted Brussels sprouts. They get all brown and yummy! Kittiemom, you are eating waaay to healthy :-) That sounds good.

Crap. I've never cooked a prime rib before. I just drool when I read about all great you cooks cooking one.

Cooked mine at 450 for 1/2 hour then at 325 another half hour. The meat thermometer didn't move! I blamed the thermometer as it was only $4.

Stuck it in the oven and raised the temp to 340. Another 1/2 hour. Heck with it, we're getting hungry.

I cut a slab off, and it was mooing at me!! I swear to God.
I heated a cast-iron skillet and seared it. Let it rest and cut into mine and it was medium. I wanted it medium-rare....nice and pink. Hubby's was perfect, he likes his meat medium.

So that's my tale of woe. With it we had broccoli, leftover marinated carrot salad and leftover mashed potatoes heated with onions, shredded cheese and sour cream. And I finished the wine. :)

Jasdip, the secret to a perfect prime rib is to let it sit out for 6 hours. Then multiply the weight by 5 and cook your prime rib for that amout of time at 500 degrees (8 x 5 = 40 minutes). Then shut the oven off and leave it alone (don't open the oven door) for 2 hours. Comes out perfect.

Tonight we are having spaghetti, salad and garlic bread.

Yes you may think that the oven is on fire from the smoke and you might have to turn off the smoke detectors.

I cooked a big meal earlier so we will munch on that. course had to have the black eyes, cabbage and pork which
was a spiral sliced ham, baked sweet potato and rice to go with the ham gravy.
