Thank you so much for sharing this update. I check often and think about the family and how they are doing. I admire the Duggars, and hope they get to bring Josie home soon. It really swells my heart to see that all the family has moved to be closer to the baby during this time. That speaks volumns about this family and how close they are. I am glad they were able to manage this.
Thanks for posting that.I was just thinking about that little one yesterday and haven't had a chance to check it out on the internet.I have a DGD that was 3 months early and weighed 2 lbs 9 oz.She was 24 today!
I saw the interview with Today show. I am so glad little Josie is gaining weight and seems to be doing good. I hope she continues to do good. Yes, already set up to tape the show.
Amen - to the neutering. They have now reached the all-time bad limit!!! Endangering the mental and physical life of babies. That poor little one could and very possibly have some kind of problems all her life.
My mom was 3 month early and born in 1950. She will be 60 in May and the only thing we can attribute to her prematurity is bad teeth. Most of them are capped in gold and silver and we have been instructed to sell her teeth when she dies, lol.
Molly, you haven't watched the show or read their comments have you? Your comment was totally ignorant. So every woman who has pre eclampsia is endangering their baby on purpose? This was a medical problem many woman have. You are so nuts to assume they planned this.
I don't care about the neutering part, that's just your opinion. Maybe I think you should do the same but that would only be my opinion based on your post. Doesn't mean a thing. To say they are endangering their child based on an unintentional medical problem is downright horrible.
My best friend came from a very large Catholic familyÂÂÂ18 kids in all. I know her Mom also lost a couple of babies. None of the kids had any issues & that was 40 years ago. The older kids helped with the younger ones & all helped around the house. They also had plenty of friends around the house. We were always welcomed to join in for meal or just visit.
My point is having as many children as the Duggars is nothing new. Having lots of children has been going on for ages. They happen to be in the Âlime lightÂÂby their choice. Also, it is their choice to have that many children. They are raising them not to be influenced by all the risky things going on in the worldÂÂ..good for them! Maybe if more of children had parents that were strict & caring we wouldnÂt have such a mixed-up world.
Many women have end-up with pre eclampsia, most certainly NOT planned & on purpose! ItÂs just plain silly to think such a thing. I wish them the best & pray little Josie continues to thrive. SheÂs a lucky little girl to her family close by.
Sorry I rocked your boat Toni - I forgot - only a few get to have their own opinions. And, of course - if you read half the posts instead of one and answer that instead of everyone elses too - you will see that "what do you know?????! I'm not the only one that feels that way.
I stand by mine - of endangering children. They were TOLD that they are having the babies too close together, especially for her age.
And -- I didn't say it was an Intentional medical problem. I don't even know if there will be a problem. But, it is certainly possible.
And, unlike you, it appears, I don't think the Duggers are such grand people (do a little research), but my heart cries for the children being used the way they are.
I second Mollie's post. What the he!! is wrong with that man??? I, for one do NOT admire this couple. Yes they have (seemingly) nice kids, but it is well known that after the first year, she quits raising them and hands them over on one of it's siblings to attend to, and usually she has another on the way. Good God, enough is enough. JMO, and sorry if it ruffles anyone's feathers. And if you notice I didn't call anyone else's opinion,,,ignorant. I do hope this little girl gains and improves rapidly so she can be home. Dottie
Wow, I didn't know it was acceptable to call anyone whose opinion one disagrees with "ignorant" and "nuts". But I guess I am ignorant and nuts too, because I neither like nor admire the Duggars.
what a whiner about the opinion part. Obviously you think 43 is way over the hill to be having a baby. For most of us it would be but there are plenty having kids in their 40's and doing just fine. Go ahead and condemn them since that's your opinion. Kinda harsh putting anyone above the age of 40 and having babies, in the boat of baby endangerment. All babies born at 25 weeks have a good chance of complications but to imply they knew she was going to deliver early because of a medical problem is way over the top.
DSis, had a healthy baby in her early 20's.In her mid 20's my sister had her second child at 25 weeks . Later, she had twins that died at 23 weeks. She had one more with the same sad out come. No more though. The doctors didn't even know why. She was no more an endangerment to her children than any other woman having these problems. Big family's may not be the norm anymore but it doesn't mean no one can do it. All my life I've worked with the public, seen and heard more than I want to believe. There are families with two kids 100 times worse off than this family,,,HON. Seems the critics don't want to see a family that actually has it together. For that reason only, I wish they were off the air. Then they wouldn't have to hear from the pessimists that couldn't raise a big family if they had two nannies. No one is perfect, but they seem to have better kids than the ones I've seen lately. At least respect is in their vocab. With 19 kids, they are destined to have some rebels. You can have another heyday then Molly.
I don't believe she stops raising them after a year. In fact I believe she continues to instill in them the virtues of being a good person. Something a good portion of our teenagers still need to learn.
oh sorry the word ignorant got so many panties in a twist. I meant what the dictionary says. ignorant [ËɪgnÉrÉnt] adj 1. lacking in knowledge or education; unenlightened 2. (postpositive; often foll by of) lacking in awareness or knowledge (of) ignorant of the law 3. resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or awareness an ignorant remark ignorantly adv which I will say is MY OPINION of Molly's idea that the Duggars are endangering their child on purpose.
I was more worried about the use of NUT. Of course if I was Cynic, it would be ok to say NUT. I generally don't call to many people nuts or anything for that matter.
Dilly Dally...What i meant when I said what the he!! is wrong with this man, In families like the Duggers, the man is THE HEAD OF THE HOUSEHOLD, and the woman is under him (in more ways than one) I really don't think Michelle has a whole lot of say of, if and when. Yes women can safely have babies in their 40's, but in MY opinion it is hard on a woman's body if she is having one just about every year for twenty years, and I suspect makes each pregnancy more and more risky. Dottie
"Back in the day" large families were the norm, & large families were desired, as many babies died & people wanted lots of hands to help on the farm & to take care of the parents when the parents got old.
Women almost always died from overwork, bad nutrition, & excessive childbearing before they experienced the joy of menopause, & their widowers almost always immediately married a much younger woman to help raise the motherless children & to produce more.
Today's world is not that world. Thank goodness.
Women have good health care, good nutrition, & the education to not have baby after baby after baby, depleting their bodies until finally they can't support their own life, much less the life of a developing baby.
A baby that is born healthy today has an excellent chance of growing up.
In the "good old days", women had to have twice the number of children they wanted to raise, as they could expect to lose half of them, to simple diarrhea, to influenza, to appendecitis, to accident, to infection.
Todays world is already too crowded, & this couple has had more than their "share" of offspring.
It's waay past time for them to stop their obsessive reproducing & pay more attention to the children they already have.
but don't expect them to do so; there's a huge amount of ego involved in this guy's obsessive begetting of children, regardless of his wife's health & regardless of the children's health or the quality of their lives.
& when a pumped-up ego is involved, the welfare of others, even one's own children, makes not one bit of difference.
I say "To each his own"! Granted,I would not agree with their decision (for myself) to have as many babies as God gives them but again, that is their perogitive. This is still a free country(thank God!)and I can't tell them how many is "too many". I don't understand all the criticsm, and sometimes downright hostility, this family gets just because they choose to have 19 kids! They take care of their kids. They feed and clothe them with no Welfare handouts and they all seem to be happy, healthy, well educated AND well mannered! What happened with this baby was totally unforseen. Could have happened to any baby, whether it be the first or the 19th! Our DIL had the same thing happen to her with the twins(her first) but thank God it wasn't that early and they did fine.I just thin everyone should get off their high horses about this family and let them live their lives the way they choose! This little baby will be a "Blessing from God" and a blessing to that family,no matter what the outcome is.Just pray for her!
Every time the Duggars hold a press conference, an interview, photo shoot, or appear on a new TV show, people are going to discuss it. It's what the Duggars want. Otherwise they did have the choice to live in obscurity just like any other family but they CHOSE not do that. They have to realize that not everybody, and really hardly anybody, approves of what they are doing. Those kids all seem maladjusted when you take a look at them and that's too bad.
Josh mentioned in an interview he is going to start his own church, just like his Dad did, for the tax write-offs it would give him. It is a shame he never went to school to get a decent education and has to resort to something like that, thinking the only way he can 'make it' in life is to go that route.
sylvia, you said what I have thought but hadn't posted, and you said it far better than I could've. Some folks here post about how in "the olden days" people used to have lots of kids so what's wrong with the Duggers doing it. Well, as you put so well, parents needed help on the farm, the survival rate was far less, birth control wasn't as advanced, and more kids (yes, loved and wanted) were born for all of those reasons and more.
Today things are different. The Duggars are choosing to have all of these children. Ok, fine, I guess. But please don't defend it by noting our ancestors' similarity when the reasons have no comparison.
I don't watch the show, so hopefully someone can answer this for me. Who is paying the expenses for the entire Duggar family while they are living near the hospital? Is it TLC?
These people freak me out as much as that Octomom disaster does - it falls into my 'creepy' catagory. No, I didn't watch one second of their show any more than I would watch Octomom;s upcoming show we all know she will be starring in soon, but I did hear she and her Mr. talk on The View and I was left astounded at the selfishness both her and her husband display towards every one of their existing children every time they decide to bless themselves with another.
Who is supposed to pay for the education of all these kids? And who will be paying for their college education - a MUST in this world. And who will be paying for their Master's degree - another probable must by the time the younger kids get to that point?
Why is the new born Duggar handed off to one of the other's for care when it's not the responsibility of a CHILD to raise a child?
We do not burden adult responsibility upon our children. We do not burden adult problems upon our children. Adults clean up their own blessed messes as they guide their offspring to learn how to clean up the offspring messes.
The proud and utter disregard towards their ongoing obligation towards their living children for the selfish fulfullment of their own dreams and desires concerning those which don't even exist but not for their choices - it's a disgrace.
Little Josie Duggar, the 19th kid in the Duggars' QuiverFull of children, recently underwent a frightening wellness episode that needed a medical center visit. Mom and Duggar father were in Central America on an animal rescue mission. Josie's ordeal will be covered on a forthcoming event of "19 Kids and Counting," which airs Tuesdays on TLC. I read this here: Duggars 19th kid rushed to hospital while parents on mission
