I think it's best to call Miele. There are two sensors in the dryer: 1) one on the three long paddles inside the drum to read fabric moisture and, 2) one inside the exhaust plenum to monitor heat and to shutdown the unit if the exhaust gets too hot, thereby notifying you with the panel light. Either the exhaust sensor is bad, or there is something obstructing the exhaust in the machine itself. Someone earlier mentioned that they found a part, located within their 9800's exhaust, out-of-skew when they checked their unit. However, I would not mess with it, and while the Miele Tech rep is there (insist that a factory Miele tech rep. comes as they have the software, and hardware to properly work on your units) ask them to also upgrade the firmware on both your washer and dryer, if needed.

I think the real issue here is that you are probably more likely to clean out the filter after each load when it is inside the door, and sort of 'in your face' when you empty or fill the dryer.... I know when I had mine on top (4 dryers ago, so this is going WAY back in time!) I didn't empty it every load.... it didn't always 'occur' to me... and I was obviously WAY younger then too! I heard form a salesman many years ago (take it for what a salesman is worth!) that is was better to be in the door as the air comes from the back to the front and then vents around to the back to get out... collecting the lint in one forward pass, while the top mount the air blows in from the back and then exits the back... needing to "turn around" with you clothes... supposedly not as good at catching lint and not as good for quick drying of clothes.... who knows if that is true or makes any sense... but I clearly remember being told that... it was the guy who sold me my Maytag set in 1979, the washer is what I replaced 18 months ago... the dryer was replaced in 1987 when I moved to an area without a gas connection... and had to switch to electric... just added this tidbit becuase he obviously pointed me to a solid machine... so maybe what he said about the dryer had some validity....????

Fisher & Paykel's topload SmartLoad, Intuitive, and AeroSmart dryers have a self-scraping lint filter. Lint is automatically scraped off the hidden filter throughout the drying cycle and deposited into a collection bucket at the left sidewall of the drum. The bucket holds several loads of lint so it needs to be dumped only when it's full, not after every run. Dumping the bucket is a manual process, but it's easily removed and dumped in the trash.

Bosch nexxt gas dryer - error code e-01 ,,,, E-01 saying - clean lint filter ........... our dryer kept buzzing .. no matter what we tried . we over cleaned lint filter in sink with soap and tooth brush and had company come in and clean duct inside wall . nothing worked. * so we took dryer apart and discovered the dryer blower squirrel cage down stream / past the lint trap ..... was completely blocked/clogged from a bad Bosch design in the dryer tub.. itself inside dryer , on the right hand side far right last 2 inches ....when you look inside dryer....... the plastic vent leading to lint filter trap --- allows large amounts of lint to bypass the filter screen itself and this leads to the squirrel cage pulling the wet lint into the impeller blades ... lots of lint... (that should have been caught by filter ) too much lint which clogged blower and the dryer would no longer work correctly . ( blower could not create any air discharge pressure at all ) causing error code ) once we took the entire dryer part and cleaned the blower box and impeller blades . the dryer now works like new again and no more annoying lint error code noisy buzzer .. ...a bad Bosch design allows lint to bypass trap. so it will eventually need to be done again. this amount of lint in the blower motor ... prevents dryer from functioning normally
