I think I may have made a ghastly mistake.....!

Today at the grocery store I was trying to think of something for dessert tomorrow evening when my sons and I grill fish for fish tacos. None of us care much for any desserts these days, so when I saw that Hagen Daz ice cream was buy 1/get 1 I decided on good ice cream for dessert. I have never bought Hagen Daz before...I'm a "take it or leave it" kind of ice cream girl. But OH MY GOODNESS! Egads and gadzooks!!! What I've been missing all my life! I got Dulce de Leche (caramel) and chocolate.

Now I have to keep out of it until tomorrow after dinner...

Teresa, there is two ways to solve the problem.

#1---Don't tell them you even bought the ice cream and make something else for dessert.

#2---Hurry back to the store on buy at least two more, afterall, it buy1/get1!

Oh yea. Hagan Daz is the only ice cream in my book. Sure I'll eat something else if it presents itself but nothing compares. Nothing. The mouth feel is incredible. The amount of salt just right. You can taste the flavoring ingredients. Its been my number one for years.

Don't panic, patients is a virtue in gardening. Just make sure to keep everything moist enough (but not waterlogged) in the heat. You can always add organic matter on top of your soil as a mulch that will slowly break down and feed the soil microbes. Aged compost and worm castings are always safe to add and won't burn your plants. I like to fertilize using things like used coffee grounds or other seed meals since they are slow release fertilizers. If I have some greedy plants that like lots of nitrogen and phosphorus, I give them a small hand full of alfalfa pellets. Be careful with the blood meal as it is really strong and a little goes a very long way. Enjoy.

I've decided if I'm going to do this right I am going to plunk down at least $1300 for either a U-Line or a Marvel. It has to be done. My contractor wants to have it here first because I think he wants to be sure that the fillers fit correctly. Thanks for the link Pigeonenglish. When I went shopping this weekend the salesman at Beemis told me that they once knew of a hospital that installed a couple hundred "dorm room" fridges underneath cabinets and they all broke down within weeks. Someone should have told them! I'm so grateful he told me that so that I wouldn't find a cheap one to throw in.

It's all fun and games until somebody loses their mind...then it's a remodel! ::grin:: Mine occured with a sudden obsession that the fridge would be too wide and the door would bump the breakfast bar. I was completely wrong. It was, however, too tall. Which I missed, because I was panicking horizontally and not vertically. (I'll never make THAT mistake again! Next time I will panic equally in all directions! HAH!) Even with that little mishap I love my kitchen. I completely understand your worry, but I hope it helps to know we have all been there, and you will live through it. Now is the time for the glass of wine/margarita/cup of sleepytime tea and a breather. DH has lost all voting rights due to a late ballot submission. I haven't read all of the comments, so someone else may have already suggested this. I love the coral and turquoise, so I like the pop of color from your living room curtains. You also have the color in your sofa pillows and if you add a little big of that coral color pop on the other side of the room and you'll have a cohesive look to the room overall. You could also change the color from coral to yellow since the pic above the fireplace has a preeminent pop of yellow. In the power room I'd add artwork that has a lot of white and whatever color you decide to go with to tone down the brightness of the aqua color and give the eyes a place to rest. I do love the color though and overall think you've done well in your choices. Give yourself some credit!

Yes, that dulce de leche is amazing. They also have a few favors billed as "Five" with only five ingredients. The ginger is unusual and a favorite; it's not overly sweet, and it's cold and hot at the same time.

I think Nancy gave you good advise.
I would make something else for dessert tomorro night, something easy like brownies and then go back to the store for the buy 1 get 1 free, just for you and no one would ever have to know and then there are no calories!

How easy is that! Every one is happy!

And there is a "Five" lemon flavor! I love lemon ice cream - well, I love lemon anything! Can I justify trying every flavor I want one after the other by reminding myself of all the other ice cream I DIDN"T eat for the past twenty years?

OMG...I am not sure if they still make it but Haagen Dazs "Vanilla Swiss Almond" is to freakin' die for!

Don't even go down that isle.... It also has the one frozen Saralee coffee cake I love. Best to just avoid it completely.

After much chastising, gnashing of teeth, and retaining I can finally stand in front of the HD freezer case and select a flavor then eat it virtually.

I worked at a HD for two summers in college. Believe it or not, I got so sick of it. But I love it once again.

Looks like I forgot to pick up the tortillas for our fish tacos. Guess I'll have to go back to the store tomorrow....

The FIVE Ginger (and the lemon) are wonderful, but the really decadent one IMO is the Hawaiian Lahua Honey. It was a "limited edition" one, and nothing like their regular vanilla honey. Sadly, they no longer have it.

Oh, heck, they are all good...with the possible exception of that limited edition pear one.

I'm smiling here...I have a friend who runs a dairy and he told me (us) once that they sell more Hagen Daz out of the C-stores than anywhere else and wondered why.

Turns out it was Mom and Dad who bought the 4 liter pail of cheapo ice cream for the home freezer so the kids could do their thing but once the kids were in bed...Dad was off to the 7-11 for a small Hagen Daz for he and Mom to share as they snuggled on the sofa watching the movie or whatever.

But it had to consumed that night, hence the smaller package.

Can't let the kids know about Hagen Daz or you are in the poorhouse!
