Surgery Update for Mom

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. The surgery took a lot longer and there were complications. She now has to stay for 4 more hours and hopefully if the pressure in her eye is ok, she can go home. If not - we face more surgery tonight.

My poor Mom.

That's just great. I'm surprised they are doing surgery on any Saturday, not to mention Holy Saturday or Easter. We will be praying for her and I'm so glad she'd doing better. What a relief it must be for you. (((Jasdip)))

terilyn, those tiny bitty babies are often just fine, they are so well protected by their mom in an early healthy pregnancy. Of course you wish he/she hadn't been subjected to anything that caused Mom trauma, but please don't worry needlessly. The pregnancy is intact, hopefully that means no issues to womb or baby.... Think positively. And try to get some rest, you've got to be running on adrenalin still ((((((for your whole family)))))

What a rough day for you both! I know how tiring all this can be on everyone.

Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts. I have read them throughout the day. You all have kept me company.

We left for the hospital at 10:00 am and just got home at about 10:30 pm. No more procedures tonight, the pressure was a good "15" and she was able to see 2 fingers on the doctor's hand tonight.

I have her home at my apartment tonight - all patched up. It's difficult for her being virtually blind and not being able to walk well anyway with her NPH. But she is in bed in the room next door and I'm hearing a comforting snoring!

We go for post-op tomorrow with the doctor. He'll check the pressure again I'm sure and we'll see what our next steps are.

I have the paperwork for FMLA leave from work that I'll have him sign. He has never written an Rx for home health care so I don't know if that'll fly. Talked to my brother tonight about FMLA leave and he thinks if I take 2-4 weeks off from work that Mom's savings could "reimburse" me my net pay. I was shocked that he offered but had actually thought of this option myself.

Well, I'm off for some sleep. Gotta keep one ear open for her.
