Hubby's retirement party--he wants more 'manly' food!

Hubs is retiring in early June and his job is throwing him a retirement party for work folks on June 8th, so I've planned a "Friends and Family" party for a couple of weeks later. I'm figuring we'll have about 30 people (all adults), and it starts at 2:00 pm

We have guest-dogs coming (it's a play date for our dogs too!) so I don't want anything chocolate (or grapes or raisins or onions) or anything with bones like wings.

I'd just as soon not have a guest "man" the BBQ either. I want to make this v e r y easy on myself, with lots of make-ahead stuff.

Here's the menu--which DH feels isn't very *manly*--

"Homemade" Boursin and assorted crackers

Hummus and pita wedges

Assorted dip and veggies

Chinese Chicken Salad

Caesar Salad

Cold pasta primavera salad w/shrimp & (real) crab

Cold shrimp marinated in a chimichurri sauce

Make your own turkey Calabrese sandwiches on ciabatta or focaccia bread

Crockpot meatballs w/BBQ sauce --hey, what's more manly than Meat BALLS????

Angel food cake and pound cake with fresh fruit

Apple pie

Berry pie

Ice cream sundaes with assorted toppings

Water, soda, beer, wine

I'm open to suggestions, and would appreciate your input! Oh, and if you have a food suggestion, please include a recipe, okay?

Thanks!!!

Smiles,

Sooz
