Good news that it is not something more severe.
I will get the results of my MRI soon. Apparently I have something wrong in my neck (C-3) and the heart doc told me not to do any upper body exercises until I see the neurologist.
Fortunately I have no symptoms.

Glenda, I'm sorry you've had a tough time with these pains and hope your treatments are nice and successful! Are you still able to go to the pool?

I've slacked off at the pool and when I go I use the noodle to lessen the floor impact.

Doctor said Friday, I should start back and go more. I'm going today to the gym and use 3 machines that I know I can use.

It sounded okay until you hit the needle part. Ick! Hope the PT helps if you're in pain. Wish they would find a cure for arthritis. Do you take anything OTC that helps?

Just called in for a refill for gabapentin! Went two days without refilling to see if I needed it and I do :o(

Glenda, have you noticed any side effects from the gabapentin?

sjerin, I was told with the original prescription that I might feel drowsy, etc, so I told doctor I didn't want it.

She halved the dosage, and I had no side affects from it. This is my second 30 day prescription. Plus it helped with the nerve pain.

Glenda, I'm thinking about the needles you mentioned. Is that Acupuncture? I had wanted to try that, but there is no one close by who offers it.

No, it's not acupuncutre. It's as the doctor says a "shock" thing that stimulates the nerve that is causing the problem.
Supposed to be uncomfortable, and I'm not to drive home after the procedure. So I have to have someone with me.

Not looking forward to it. We had hoped the neck MRI would find the problem, but it's not neck related. Doctor says that's a good thing with it not being neck related.

If your doctor gives you a name for the shock thing, pass it on. I also have a neck problem; doc says "just arthritis." I also have a shoulder problem, which I have self-diagnosed as "Clickitis." Seems to have started after I got a computer.

We just have to keep on keeping on.

Could the study you are going to have called electromyogram (EMG) or nerve conduction test? I had this a few years ago.

You totally dodged a bullet. It is so good that it is NOT neck related, the junction of so many nerves and vertebrae. I'm glad it's "only", only, wow?!, your shoulder. Hugs for other procedures. When it's on the spine, once you have one thing done, it causes the spine above it to fail. Whew, so good it's not on the spine!

rob, that's exactly what the doctor said. I should be thankful it's not in the neck.

This procedure, they can pinpoint the nerve that is having the problem with the shock thingie.

Start therapies Wed for neck and shoulder and don't have the shock until March.

I truly know that one. I'm living it. My mom and my own body. Back stuff is totally awful and is never ever never ending. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I hope your deal is a one time thing. I love physical therapy. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread, the wheel, and anything else that is revolutionary. It can really help ease the pain.

That is totally new to me. I'll do some research on it so if it is ever suggested to me, at least I will know what they are talking about.
