Info/Pics Needed of Outlets on Black Granite Backsplash
Comments (5)This is something I agonized over when we were doing our remodel last year. Our granite is Blue in the Night, which appears as black from a distance. We have four outlets that are in our granite backsplash (which is a bit higher than 4" where they are. My first thought was that I didn't want the switchplates to stand out on the granite. Since the switchplates would be near other switches that would be on cherry beadboard and tile, I decided I wanted to keep with the same style for all. In the end we went with Lutron stainless switchplates with black centers. I think they compliment our SS appliances. Under our window on either side of the sink On our peninsula...See MoreWhat color backsplash would you chose and can you suggest a grani
Comments (18)nosoccermom - I love the look that why I chose the two together. I knew I always wanted a backsplash like that. I want the backsplash to be the main attraction lol. And the photos above are similar to my cabinet style with similar colors. When I look on the cabinet brand website they have those same cabinets with similar backsplash. By saying "it dont bother me" just means it really doesnt cause I didnt even notice it until it was pointed out - I love the backsplash styles I chose and also love the cabinets. I guess I wont really see the big picture until everything is done. And when I look around at kitchens with raised panels most are traditional backsplashes and I really didnt want a traditional backsplash. I guess I will hold off ordering my backsplash and once my cabinets are installed I'll go from there (which I probably was going to do this anyway lol) - Thank you so much for your help. Comments (18)I have leathered antique brown granite. It is actually black despite the name. I really like it. You could have your perimeter counters installed and then decide after if you want to continue the black on the backsplash. You might find that it is too dark. One unexpected nice thing about the leathered finish is that at night, when the lights are on inside but it's dark outside, little shiny patterns appear when a place on the countertop catches the light just so. It's a nice little surprise. And I do find that it hides fingerprints pretty much 100%. On our island we have polished white macaubus quartzite. I like the contrast, but not everyone likes so many different finishes in a kitchen. Agree about the by-the-hour designer if you can find one that will do that. A few hours here and there from a designer when I was doing the kitchen was really helpful. I think over the course of the whole remodel, I had 3 meetings of about an hour each to choose materials, discuss some wonky things about the cabinets and make a decision, and then near the end to make some final finishing touch decisions....See MoreTrying to make blacked brushed granite with gray backsplash work?
Comments (8)Perhaps look for an accessory (dish towel, rug, picture) that ties the colors together. If that isn't an option, I would at a minimum look for something that coordinates with the backsplash (gray bowl, dish towels, etc.) to make it look more intentional. Generally things will look more "put together" if the color is repeated at least once. The counters are repeated in your knobs, but right now the backsplash is all alone....See Morefnzzy
