I would like to install some type of heat barrier on the bottom side of my rafters in the attic. My decking is the radiant heat barrier type but it still gets quite hot up there.

I have looked at roll type and foam board types. My thinking is that if installed correctly , the heat will be trapped within the rafter and carried to the ridge vents by natural draft from the soffits thus resulting in decreased temps.

Maybe I am wasting my time but I was hoping someone might have some insight on this.
