What's your favorite fashion accessory?
Comments (59)Sunny - I LOVE those boots! I love cowgirl boots too but I'm a bit more conservative style and price-wise with my Ariat Heritage boots - wouldn't mind a pair of those winged ones myself though. When I was in Denver this spring, I lusted after every just about every pair at Cry Baby Ranch. My favorite accessories are scarves and I love my big Silverlake Flap purses by The Sak. Dang Goldy, those Rocketbuster boots are nice but whoa.... way too pricey for my blood. Comments (23)What's a gorgeous suit! It does take time to make something like that but it's well worth the trouble to learn. I learned to do bound buttonholes by practicing on scrap fabric. This thread brought back such sweet memories of watching my Mother (born in 1908) get dressed in something like that. She was oh so slender snd fashionable. She always wore hat & gloves... even to the supermarket before she passed away in the late 60's. I have half dozen pair of her lovely gloves...one pair of soft white kid in elbow length with embroideried cutwork...they're still soft as butter. How I treasure them! My Dad, who was so proud of her, used to take her to St. Louis twice a year for shoes- she wore a size 4 (triple A with a AAAA heel.) Sample shoes were only ones that fit, and her favorite stores loved her visits 'cause she tried on so many pairs, they said she sold them by "modeling." Now I realize what a long trip it was from NE TX to St Louis before Interstate hwys. I can remember "petting" her fur coat and wondering what it must be like to be so beautiful. I have a nightgown (part of her trousseau) of pale yellow silk (bias cut in Harlow style) with silk flowers of darker yellow & pale green stems & leaves, all handmade. It is just exquisite, and such a treasure to me. Ladies always "dressed" for travel whether by car or train. Wish I could post the picture of her as a newlywed, all dressed up, standing with one foot on the running board of their Buick convertible with the spare tire tucked in the front fender. When my Dad gave me the picture after she dies he said "She sure was a sassy lil' thing, wasn't she?" as tears streamed down his face. Little girls were in awe of their Mothers & wanted so much to be like them. I thought it heavenly when given old clothes, purses, etc. to play dress-up in. Comments (79)meghane, as a conflict-resolution specialist I knew used to say, "there's a lot of fear." That's what I ascribe the neutrality cult to be about. HGTV "it'll never sell" "it's personal to the owner" "it's you"...now *sometimes*, unfortunately, one person's color choice is not another person's taste, and it costs money to change out non-moveable elements like counters and backsplashes as opposed to pillows and lampshades etc., so it really is safer, if safe investment is your primary goal. That said, if y'all saw my house you'd know I'm not averse to color...The Hallarum cabinets with green-tea-Corian (with pencil edges -- it actually looks good, folks, don't choke!) with the Sicis waterglass backsplash in two shades of gold, deeper reddish brown, and two shades of green/gray, would prove it :) I love it so much that I hate to think that someone else won't, but what I did with the backsplash was to screw the backerboard in on top of the drywall and put tiles over the screws, so that if someone really hates it, I can just take it off and reuse the tiles in my new house. They can have plain painted drywall or tumbled travertine if they want :) They're stuck with the corian, though, but it is such a wonderful neutral green-gray, like concrete almost, that another backsplash would be easy to choose to coordinate with, IMO....See MoreMisc fall fashion questions
Comments (49)Okay, so here is a pretty bad mock-up of Outfit 1. I am wearing it to an event this weekend. Black velvet blazer, black tuxedo stripe pants (which are darker than they appear here), heels, "Hyacinth Blue" cami, and a black patent St John clutch. I have another purse that picks up the blue but it is a small cross body and I think it looks teen-ish? So, my question is in re OUTFIT 2. I am going to a bnai mitzvah and I want to repeat the outfit, except the v-neck on Outfit 1 is abit too sexy on. I want something that won't show cleavage - or very little - but can go day into night at a rather fancy affair. Here are some choices to replace the blue top above. 1. Pale pink --- i look good in this color, it is "in", and I have not one but 2 purses in this shade (which is not necessarily a spring color because it has sort of brown/mauve tones). 2. Champagne --- flattering, classic, would look great w my Tahitian pearl choker 3. Goldish knit w fringe --- Knit tops like this tend to flatter me, and the color is good for blondes. 4.Electric Blue w black piping - reminds me of a shirt I had in the early 90s! The piping will look nice, but I don't wear such strong colors anymore 5. Floral - I think this is so pretty, but not sure it would flatter, it seems loose. I like it a lot in a mock-up because it make the outfit almost monochromatic VOTE?...See Moreteacats
