over the goofiest things!

Local sent a letter to the Editor because he was peeved that a fast food worker said "Have A Nice Day" when she handed him his order, instead of "Thank You"

Heck, I'm just happy if they are pleasant and acknowledge me at all. LOL

it always annoys dh when they hand out the food in a drive-thru and don't say you're welcome,after he's said thank you. have 3 taco bells in the area, and i insist on going to just the one, because after they reopened, the (daytime) staff is always nice and polite...

Those body suede panties aren't the worst I've seen. I guess I'll ck to see if they provide enough support. While my husband would never "freak out" over "non-trendy" panties they certainly don't make you feel or look enticing from his perspective or from mine. I would never want that look for me nor for him to see me in them. I don't think that makes him a lousy partner the same way I'd prefer it if he doens't look like an old man & tries to look modern & sexy for me. You'd be lying if you say looks don't count (or in the case of many women it's a conveneient attitude to take when they prefer not to try to look their best for their man - that's what talk shows are made of) & I'm sorry to say that's what usually initially attracts people to each other, so frivolous or not I'd understand if my husband were not interested in my body wtih granny panties.

Oh my , chinacat . You sure got that first sentence 'close to home ' ! I tried to talk to his doctor about it his mental disabilities . His response " He has to tell me himself what his problems are " !!!!!!! This Dr. got so offensive to me at our last visit ( about a year ago ) we haven't been back since . I tried to get him accepted with the local VA doctor . They said they would get back to me with what we needed to do . That has never happened , and it was at least 3 months ago ! RE ; depression ... this DR. decided I needed on antidepressants because I was upset about my unsatisfactory cataract surgeries . I allowed him to give me some sample pills . They messed me up royally ! I had difficulty walking , driving , talking . When I tried to explain that to him that is when he got so sarcastic to me . It even upset my DH . I quit the pills , but it took about 6-8 weeks to get back to normal . I am connected with the world . I go to our church services twice on Sunday . I go to the church's Golden Year's Class every Tuesday . I post regularly on a conversation forum (Perennials ). DH is only interested in going to Sunday's services . He seldom gets out amongst people otherwise . We live 23 miles from town . He does not care to go to town except to Dr. appointments and to get his hair cut ! He does go up to his cousin's sawmill occasionally , but I doubt if there is much talking there , because they are busy . Visitors are very rare . People used to come , but I think his manner of talking has turned them off . He loves to talk , but most of it is about things in the long ago past . He can get very radical with his statements about people . Most of the times when I try to talk to him about present things it ends up with him getting very angry , or responding very inappropriately . Make that a 'house mate' that is equal to a 3 year old when he is at his worse . HAH ! "Dry when I wash " . He stood on the front steps of our church building and loudly announced that "He never washed dishes , and he never intended to " ! Acually , I don't dry , I drain ! He does 'make' his own bed , and he takes his plate to the sink and rinses it . I have studied FMS extensively . There is no known cure , and very little help . I took Ultram for awhile , but my pain eased up about 3 years ago , and now I can now sustain myself with OTC pain meds . My biggest problem now IS the 'brain fog' , and fatigue . I have several friends that have been diagnosed with FMS . We all hurt , but have differing ailments otherwise . The 'brain fog ' and fatigue are pretty universal . Marian

Right back where I was! Should have left well enough alone! I had so many Vizros DL's in my files from trying so hard to get rid of the Vizros name last summer that I decided to delete all and re-download fresh with only that to keep and NOW I keep getting that damn name on the ribbon again even tho I registered umpteen times. Maybe they are all sleeping and it takes time to register?

Ah, this debate again. I liked this quote from davidr: There's a lot of "religion" here. There are solid arguments on both sides. Pick one. ;-) I guess I'm a true straddler, though. Sometimes I twist and sometimes I don't. I used to pretwist all of the time back in the days when wirenuts were little more than plastic or ceramic caps--before they had strong metal spring turnings. In new wiring, with nice straight solid wires of equal size, I seldom pretwist anymore but I do turn the nut hard until there are a couple of visible twists in the insulated portions. That's easy enough to do with two or three #12s or #14s, but it gets harder on the hands with #10, so I nearly always put the pliers to #10 first. In old work, when remaking a connection or adding a wire, I'm more likely to pretwist. That depends partly on whether I've cut the old wires back and re-skinned (definitely the best practice if there's enough spare wire to work with). I'm also more likely to pretwist when the wires are not identical in guage and type (i.e., solid/stranded). When one is stranded (usually the smaller) and the other two are solid, I like to pretwist the solids with pliers and then manually twist and "work in" the stranded on top of the twisted pair.

I agree with Shirley! My gosh I swear some people complain about EVERYTHING! Good gosh, worry and complain about the big stuff, not just to hear yourself speak!

You said it, nodakgal, I maintain people look for things to be offended, get their feelings hurt and have something to complain about. Like my old GF always used to say, I just wanted to SLAP them!!

The other thing that gets me is when people get upset if someone says something like "my pleasure", "no problem", "glad to do it", "don't mention it", etc, instead of "You're welcome!!!!" I imagine I offend a lot of people (well, strike that, I know I offend a lot of people!! LOL) but when I hold the door for someone or something like that for a nice lady I appreciate being thanked and honestly say, it was my pleasure.

Is it REALLY that big a deal?

Isn't that the truth? In our "Letters to the Editor" people are having a big debate as to whether the new decade started this year or starts next.

Considering our county has a 14% unemployment rate and businesses are closing rather than opening, you'd think they could spend their waking hours thinking about something more productive. What a silly thing to argue about!

Well, my pet peeve, is when I say "thank you" to someone, I want them to answer "You're welcome", not "No problem." I know young people say no problem all the time and mean no disrespect, but I still think it's wrong wrong wrong.

Did some of you, perchance, read the thread (yesterday?) about trhe guy who had two coupons at Macdonalds, they wouldn't honour, said had to be different order, he went around parking lot, back through line, they said had to go off the lot, he went off the lot, came back through the line ... they still refused?

I offered my usual rant over that one!

Dad used to say, "Small potatoes ... and few in a hill".

Keep a sense of perspective: concentrate on the important things - don't sweat the small stuff, O.K.?

Some people just aren't happy unless they're pissin&moanin about something! My sister hasn't spoken to me in almost 6mos.! Why? Because my son "hurt her feelings". She wanted him to do something..and he told her NO!(a word she is NOT use to hearing!) I'm at loss as to how I ended up being responsible for THAT. Really doesn't matter, because I've grown tired of walking on eggshells around certain people because they might get their feelings hurt! To me it's a "control" thing. You do what I want..and I won't piss&moan! Hmm...that no longer works with me.

I used to work in an environment where cursing was very routine. Over time, I adopted the practice and came to sound like a sailor as well, both at work....and then at home.

When my DH challenged me to clean up my language, I did...and now I say "Have a nice day" when I really mean something else that is not very ladylike or pleasant :)

When I'd be frustrated. etc. I used to growl (loudly) "Gawd DAMMIT!!!" When I had GK's I had to consciously change that to "Gawd. . . " (pause & remember) "BLESS AMERICA!!!" Smashed my finger yesterday. America got blessed.

Yeah Angie...that was really sweatin the small stuff...I'm just thrilled when people say Thank You...My Pleasure...Have A nice Day...something that shows me they weren't raised by wolves but by people who taught them that manners DO mean lots!

in our letter to editor this week a man wrote thanking people in our county for giving to the food banks. He said, for the first time of his life he was with out work and if it wasn't for getting donated food his family wouldn't be getting much to eat. I thought that was really nice he took the time to say thank you.

It's amazing that some people have so much extra time that they can make a mountain out of a mole hill. If folks would ignore complaints such as this, everyone would be better off. Once again, I'm envious that this was that person's biggest problem. How lucky is that? Gee, they've just had a huge earthquake in Haiti. How does that rate w "problems"?

Nit-picking is so much easier than tackling the big problems. I've sat through many a town meeting where huge budgets were approved without a murmur but hours were devoted to deciding how many shrubs should be planted around the city hall parking lot.

People like to talk. Everybody has an expert *opinion* about the small stuff. Retired people, especially, often don't have enough to do and don't want to tackle anything substantial, so they complain. This is why nobody wants to serve on a condo board! (Well it's why THIS body won't do it.)

People do seem to complain about the silliest things! And why did the paper even print it? I'm fairly happy to get any civil response from strangers these days. I always say "Thanks". Although there have been times when I've got a baby in one hand, toddler holding the other and the person in front of me doesn't hold the door open. I usually give them a sarcastic "Gee thanks, Have a Nice Day" oops-just slipped out!
