She passed!!!!!! Way to go Sydney............

She is now a liscensed driver! I am excited..but dang nervous also. The one good thing is Sydney still doesn't go very much. She is still a homebody and happy just staying in the house with us! Her memaw gave her her car (she can't drive anymore) She said her Grandad would have wanted her to have it. It is a 2004 Nissan Ultima with only 25,ooo miles on it so it will be a great car for her and will get her thru college years even. I will take pics of her and her car this week and post them! STacy

I don't know of anything more exciting than seeing your teen get her first car. Can't wait to see pictures of Sydney and her car.

Ginger, you know I don't usually come over here, I hardly ever even lurk! But, somehow I did tonight and saw your post about Marlen. It really is bittersweet, I just made "Marlen's Bacon Pull Apart Bread" over the weekend and my cousin asked for the recipe and I mentioned it on the C/F the other day. Isn't it funny/unreal/wonderful how somebody who you NEVER met can touch you in a special way? (I know that you have met Marlen, but I guess I mean me!) I usually try to check my order before leaving but in reality, don't always. And of course you know WHEN the mistake will happen! Mostly, I check to see that, for instance if I order to sandwiches and a fry, I see if there's two sandwiches and a fry in there. On burgers I order just ketchup. Interestingly at Burger King, I've found there's a WAY to say it, to get what you want. Do not say "just ketchup", you need to say "ketchup ONLY". Never a problem since. It's using THEIR lingo. The new thing I've run into is the way they push upsizing. "Small" costs $1.50 more! You have to say "value size". I started saying "whatever size is the price you advertise". I've made them change it more than once. I do like to think that most of these places truly do want to try to make things right when there's a legitimate problem. And yes, if they don't know about it, there's nothing they can do to improve. So we as customers do owe it to them to let them know when there's a problem. You were very reasonable Glenda. Many would be expecting they give them the world for a mistake. Hopefully they can straighten things out and you can return to being a satisfied customer at their establishment. I understand the business's frustration too, what with people threatening all sorts of things and the like. Everyone knows that nobody in their right mind will sue for a burger mishap. But it makes for good laughs at the water cooler. And really, some of these mistakes are just people not paying attention to their job. And that's a big frustration of mine. I don't care if you're a CEO of a gigantic corporation or a floor sweeper in an office. If you don't take pride in your work, you're incompetent. So many of these mistakes are so easily avoided. After all the health issues lately I've been forced to eat out much more. I'm tired of of. Been buying more groceries lately and doing light cooking at home. And appreciating it much more. I'm sure many would laugh at my menus of late but compared to drive through... it's gourmet cuisine!

My daughter,(40) just this week moved back in, she had left her husband and her teenage daughter over a year ago,which was a shock to everyone,she was having an affair with someone at work, and moved in with him. This of course caused a lot of problems, her daugher was devistated,her husband was a mess... I am close to both of them. It was many months before my daughter and I spoke..I finally told her I had to let go and fogive her, not for her, but for me.However our relationship was also strained. I told her I was concerned for her, as this man has a history of domestic abuse. She called me last week, she needed out of the relationship. is broke and now worried about her job, since he is her superviser. I told her, I had 3 rules...she had to be completly honest with me, NO drinking( this had been an issue with the boyfriend, she joined in) and she needed to seek conseling. So now she is living in our guest room.. But things are looking better, after talking to human resorces, her job is okay.. turns out this guy has a history of relationships with co-workers.She is looking into being switched to another department. And her daughter has been comunicating with her, very causiously, but a start.... So wish us all the best..

I have no suggestions. I am the one with the headphones on avoiding all the bodily function noises and humming and chomping that goes on in my dept. Never the one that speaks up. BUT something came to mind. You say she lost a lot of weight? My sister takes phentermine (a prescription diet drug) and it gives her extreme dry mouth. To the point of when she talks her lips sometimes get 'stuck' on her teeth because her mouth is SO dry and she often has bad breath. 1. From smoking and 2. The dry mouth. If she is on medication that cause dry mouth, that might be your answer to 'why'? Also if she drinks coffee with cream, smokes .. That adds to it. Do you think she is actually brushing her teeth in the mornings? I used to be in the dental field lol you guys don't laugh ... Dental to accountant .. Lol ok anyway - if she has severe sinus issues, she will have bad breath.. Notice any sneezing, coughing or complaints about sinus issues? She may not even realize it's effecting her. My ex often did not brush his teeth at bedtime. He would fall asleep in the recliner and then shuffle half asleep to the bedroom, strip and fall in the bed... I had to start saying, 'let's get ready for bed before we turn the tv on' and then I would brush my teeth and he would follow my example. Not the same situation but wondering of she brushed during the day if that would help. I brush at work because I try to keep myself from drinking too much coffee or snacking... So I brush and gargle twice sometimes three times a day. A few ladies liked the 'smell' of my fresh clean mouth just walking in to the room so they asked, 'do you brush at work?'. Why yes. Yes I do. And so now several of us are 'work' brushers... I second the go to the HR dept if that doesn't work, maybe just take her away quietly or step outside. I did have to confront someone about something embarrassing once and she was actually quite grateful. Granted it wasn't her breath but it was her perfume. I was sneezing all day and because I was miserable I finally just said 'hey can I talk to you for a minute? I love your perfume but I think I'm allergic to it' and she was like omg! Everyone has been sneezing and I thought you guys just had colds... Thank you sooo much for telling me how embarrassing. She just switched and didn't wear as much. Congratulations to Syd. She'll really enjoy being able to drive and you will enjoy having someone to help run errands occasionally. :) What a nice car for her first one, I'm sure she'll be very proud to have it.

Congratulations Sydney!

My 15.5 year old..hasn't taken drivers ed yet(wish we had the parent/teacher option in WA, cuz it's nearly $400 for DE and we said A's and B's ONLY.) And has a Ford Ranger in the driveway waiting for him..I think he'll see 16 come and go without a drivers license..and then I think I'll no longer hold hubby off on selling the p/u.

DD has been driving since August. Iowa kids can drive to school when they are 14. Oh my!! Is it something when they first drive out.

Stacey, she KNEW she had to pass the test and get her drivers license, or you would have to come and get her - she couldn't have legally driven home if she had failed!!!! Congrats, Syd!!!!

congratulations to Syd! She'll be getting the urge to drive all over real soon!

My sixteen year old got his license last April. I was so nervous too. Now that we've had snow off and on for a month, THAT makes me even more nervous. He has been helpful driving his sisters around when mom or dad can't. I like that part!

Congrats, Syd!

Our oldest got his license in May. He was 17. We taught him how to drive.

I'll never forget the first time he drove the car alone. Yikes! Unfortunately, our car now has a dent in the bumper and we've dealt with some other issues. DH has a 1995 Jetta in the garage that hasn't been driven in years. DS will get it when he can show us he can be responsible.

I know Syd will be a good driver, though!!! Way to go, Syd!

OH my gosh in Iowa kids can drive to school at 14??? NO way would I let Tanner drive to school alone at 14.....I am still leary of Sydney driving alone....at 16 1/2....Stacy
