Does anyone remember the Charlie Chips truck? I can't believe we used to have greasy potato chips delivered to our house in 5 gallon buckets! LOL!!!! I wonder if they are still in business?

We also had bread delivered and dairy products. Always had to make sure we got to the bread early or the birds would tear into it!

I've not heard of Charlie's Chips, but when my boys were little, we had a standing order with a milk company. The deliveryman would put it in a 'frig on our (unlocked) garage, and we paid the bill twice a month as DH got paid.
A few years later, we did the same thing with raw milk from a neighboring farm. Can't do it now, but it's a nice memory!

We had C. Chips! I think I even have one of their tins around somewhere.

I grew up in north central PA.

Oh, yes. I love your plan. (I never remember names, though...just who I am--can't remember names of composers I like, or book titles, or authors either). Either location will work fine. But, I think I would probably put it on the bedroom hall (the one that runs up and down on the plan, rather than side to side). I think if you use the guest room as a guest room, it would be nicer to not have the laundry room door right there. However, for your convenience, you should do what you like best (since either is really fine). If it would be easier for you to hear the beeps and remember to change the laundry if the door was nearer the living spaces, then put it on the guest hall hall. (But, for this reason (of hearing the beeps in the main living spaces), it might be nice to not have the door on that hall.) Confused yet? :) Really, I like your plan.

I remember reading (this was a joke) about a lady going into the ladies room, not wanting to put her purse on the floor, hanging it around her neck, not wanting to sit on the seat(her mother said you never know what you might pick up), trying to put paper on the seat and then trying to do the stance..Of course the door wouldn't lock right and someone tried to open it and of course that made the lady fall back against the seat...When she was "done", realized there was no paper and had to use a chewing gum wrapper she had in her purse....This joke went on and on and was the funniest thing I had ever read. But it was all very true, when you thought about it....I think the moral was, never go to the rest room alone, always take a friend...To stand and guard the door and then to hand you paper under the door..... I looked and looked, trying to find a copy of this joke...If anyone has it, please post it.....

My DS was 6-7 and home from school sick in bed. We had a snow and everything was covered and freezing cold outside. DS called me into the bedroom and told me to look out at the bird on the telephone wire. The poor thing looked like he was frozen to the wire, but apparently not because after a while as we watched, he appeared to fall to the ground. DS asked me to go see what was wrong with the bird. So of course I bundled up, put on boots and gloves and went out on rescue. I brought the bird in and we could see that he had a grain of corn stuck in his throat. I managed to dislodge it and he was then ready to go. I let him out the door and he flew away. I've forgotten many of the things DS did to aggravate me, but I still remember that day when he had to know that one bird was helped. He is still like that, very caring. Sue

I will tell you a little about my "boob experience". It will probably be deleted. We had a stallion....and I handled him every day. Never a problem with him. I should have paid more attention that day....but I didn't. He hated a gelding we had. And when I went in the pasture with him....he was in his own 5 acre pasture, to put a halter on him, he was mad at the gelding. As I reached up with the halter, he swung his head around and bit me on the boob. I was wearing a bra back then....so I guess that gave a little more protection, but not much. It ripped my shirt, ripped my bra in half, and my boob ended up looking like an eggplant....dark purple and ice cold. He knocked me on the ground, and I lay there for a second, stunned, but I was afraid he was going to come after me again, so I got out of there fast. He was a beautiful horse and I called Jody and said, "Side Winder is gone." Meaning I wouldn't have a horse that I was afraid of. Jody said, "Oh, we will geld him...." I said, "No...he is gone." There was a neighbor that loved him and wanted to buy him. I called him and told him to come get the horse. I gave him away. So I went to the emergency room at a university hospital. One of the interns (who obviously didn't know horses) said, "What were you doing with him?" I won't repeat what my husband said I should have told him, but what I did tell him was it "was like getting your *testicles* slammed in a car door." I used another word. That shut him up. I honestly thought it would fall off. It took a long time to heal because of the damage and the bite being at the top of my breast and it couldn't drain up hill. Awful. But I survived in tact, with just a scar to remind me.

Was the Charlie's Chips tin tan with brown lettering? I think I remember that.

At one time we had Spud Nuts delivered. They were donuts made with potato flour. Sure wish we could get those again. Best donut you ever had.

Used to have milk delivered and left in an insulated aluminum box on the porch. The bottles had paper caps and sometimes the milk would freeze and push the cap up.

The bill was left monthly if I remember correctly.

Milk and donuts. Yum yum!

never heard of those chips... but we DID have milk delivery when I was a kid.

AND the vegetable man came around in the summer.

We had Charley Chips and also the milk delivery...Of course that was after DH moved me off the farm into the big city. Those modern things were something to write home about..

My DH remembers them. We just saw some of the tins in an antique shop.

Bottled milk, delivered, on you doorsteps, when I was young.

We now have a traveling Mexican meals truck, in my area.

DH's family had Cushman's Bakery deliver baked goods and breads. I remember the fish man coming around. We also had a man who sharpened knives and scissors.

We never got Charles Chips, but I remember the trucks and tins! Yes, they were tan and brown lettering!

Charles Chips - yes, we had them delivered! I agree - cannot believe that we had potato chips delivered to the house. But boy, were they good!

Of course I remember Charley Chips--they had the best animal crackers, too.

When I was a kid, there was a local place that used to make the best ice cream--and THEY delivered. We also used to have a truck that came around with a little Merry-go-round on the back of it.

We missed out on Charley Chips but we did have the Helms bakery truck. I still remember the fresh cream puffs ... mmm!

When I was a kid in Buffalo in the 50's we had Charles Chips, Quuen O sodapop, Halls Bakery and Dairylea Milk delivered. I would give my right arm FOR A Charles Chip can, I loved those greasy salty chips as a child. On Saturday night Mom always had hamburgers, chocolate milk and Charles Chips for dinner. Yum!
