Well, dear Maybee, it is all about you. Deaths of friends and neighbors can't help but affect us. All three of those are tragic deaths so don't apologize for feeling the way you do. I'm very sorry you have to go through this in the middle of winter when it's pretty dreary anyway. (((Maybee)))

Patti is absolutely right - it IS about you and how these incidents affect you! Any time we lose someone close to us, whether a family member, friend, or neighbor - it affects us - talk to us and we will get you through all this pain! I am sorry about all these deaths.

feeling badly about all these losses.

They are losses to you too, and of course you are
going to feel them.

I also think it is normal to feel this sadness about the deaths in your community. I am sorry for your sadness.

Maybee, Patti is right, it is about you. It's about how these losses are impacting your life, every loss diminishes us in some way and these are taking a toll on you. Some folks are like a sponge, they absorb the sadness and the pain of others. You are one of those folks, it shows your compassion and ability to care.

I hope that things turn around soon for you, and for your community, but in the mean time know that there are many here that will help you carry the weight on your shoulders.

There is a poem that starts "Every man'd death diminishes me, becaue I am part of eternity." It's okay to feel bad. I have often got hung up thinking about senseless deaths from cancer, random accidents, murders, serial killers. The year my first daughter was born, a toddler had been beaten to death by her father. I cried and cried for that poor child. Luckily, when my own child was born it took my mind off my "obsession".

I agree with everyone else. Accept your pain, don't try to fight a gainst it. It needs to be expressed, however you choose. Sh_t happens in this world. We need to cry. Time will help us to heal.

And it's happening here too. Tomorrow I will be going to ANOTHER funeral. There have been at least 6 deaths in the last 2 months or so that I can think of, of people we knew. Older, younger, our age..... Two at the same funeral home in less than 2 weeks. DD has 3 at the same funeral home this week alone. Two from thier church.

We have another funeral tomorrow....the one last week was about more than I could take....he was a young man (31 years old) with two small children and another on the way. He and his wife lived right next door and they were so good to us...I will miss him not being there more than I can say...

I often need to remind myself that the earth is renewed with deaths and with births. I learned this lesson as a child when my mother died. I have often marveled at the joy a baby brings to the mourners at a wake or funeral. His or her cute presence reminds us all.

As yours appears to be a closely-knit community, maybee, I hope that you have some friends or family near with whom you can discuss your concerns and hurt.

It is hard to lose such a close neighbour ... and I hope that his family will be able to manage. Perhaps you would feel it appropriate to mention that a number of folks in various areas and different countries who frequent this place are thinking of them and send their condolences and good wishes.

May God and your neighbours help you all to come through this trying time well.

Ohhhhhh, that is so hard! You must be feeling like Job right about now. Just one funeral can be depressing as all get out so I can certainly see where you're coming from. A few months ago my dh and I went to a friend's funeral and we were so darned depressed when we returned that we took off in the car for the beach to walk; yeah, we're lucky to be able to do that. Can you go somewhere this weekend that's a "happy place" to you for a bit? I might be good to get out of the house. I'm so sorry for the huge heap of sadness you've been going through.

Life and friends are precious; their lives and losses do effect us. My thoughts go out to you and all those touched by this sadness.

maybeee~~ I feel your pain. I feel I have had so many "losses" lately. One of my dear friends has 6 weeks to live at the most from cancer. Another's husband has ALZ and she can not leave him. Another's huband had a bad stroke and it is hard for her to leave. Another's husband was killed two days ago on black ice and they don't know if she is going to recover or not. Two more are wanting to sell their homes and move to a nursing home. One is in the Phyc. ward with uncontrollable bi-polar disease....and to top it off, my beloved husband died unexpectedly on New Year's Eve.

I don't know your age group, but if this is the "Golden Years", I thing they are just plain rusty!
