I downloaded "Opera" browser, and am liking it, BUT, how do I get my favorites from Inter. explorer onto my Opera bookmarks, any way, other than doing each site individually. Also, my banking site does not support Opera, can I go back and forth between it and IE??? HELP!!

You can download as many browsers as you like and you can have them all open at the same time if you want. So going back and forth isn't a problem. There should be an option in Opera to import your favourites. Try looking under the Favourites tab. I don't have Opera on my laptop anymore because Vista didn't like it and it kept shutting down on me. I use Firefox now.

Hit the F1 key at the top left of your keyboard while in Opera. This will give you detailed instructions.

Ravencajun...thanks ...I didn't know you could have two browsers....I learn something new everyday...LOL Jean Mi....yes, I know about the 3 horizontal bars but I was looking for IE Menu...with File-Edit-View-Insert-etc...but I could live without it because Google Chrome is so fast.... leave it alone when you did the update it should have taken care of everything you are mentioning, the IE icons will now open your new IE8, IE6 is still in windows and should be able to be used if you were to remove IE8 and revert back to IE6 but that is certainly not advised. anytime you add a new browser when it asks if you want to import your settings, faves, homepage,etc from the old one say yes so that your new one will have all that the old one had as you had it set up, it will even copy your favorites list for you so you have all of those on the new one. It will also ask if you want to make firefox your new default browser or not when you first install firefox you don't have to do that you can always change it later if you decide you love it and want it to be the default. Also when you first install firefox it will open to the firefox home page to let you know you have successfully installed it, that does not mean it has changed your homepage to firefox, it does that one time only, if you shut it down and re-open it you will find it opens to your homepage if you had it copy all of your settings that is.

I E stays exactly the same, you are not affecting it. To use IE just click on the IE icon on the desktop, to use Chrome or firefox or any other browsers just click on the icon for it on the desktop. You can have more than one open at a time if you want. It is just another program. I don't think it will affect the hard drive they are not to large. Whether it will be faster depends on why it's slow. If it is your Internet Speed connection then it won't matter. What you can do that might help is start the video then pause it while it finishes loading, you can see the progress bar, then start viewing it, that allows the buffer to catch up.

Malwarebytes is much better than spybot, however the browser hijackers are very hard to fully remove, you could go to this support forum and ask for help to clean it they will have you run some special programs on it to get it all cleared off. But that was likely part of the original infection so I would say whoever supposedly cleaned it did not do a very through job Analysis and Malware Removal you will need to register there and post your request for help in that area.

Importing Into Opera

"Importing into Opera. Opera includes a utility to insert bookmarks from any browser, as well as an IE-specific function that allows you to import IE Favorites directly into Opera. To follow its steps, right-click the top-most bookmark folder in the Hot List window and either click File, Insert File to import Navigator Bookmarks or click File, Insert Internet Explorer Favorites to import your IE Favorites."

debby_ab after thinking about some of your other posts I do recall when I first got my Vista unit I had some shutdown issues while using Opera. I'm a diehard fan of Opera so I wasn't about to give it up. I got an updated version of Opera, same, but then I got about 50mb of Windows patches and it's been smooth sailing ever since. I'd suggest you try it again. I'll bet the Windows patches will take care of your issue if you've patched your system. My browser stays open continually and haven't had an issue, well, at least not with Opera! Also be sure you're virus and malware free. That can impact a lot of things. And of course a regular chkdsk and defrag.

I have Opera installed and my bookmarks have been moved (manually, can't find anywhere that imports from firefox and it was quick, I reformatted the laptop 2 days ago! LOL). So far, so good. It hasn't frozen on me yet. Woohoo!

debby_ab, my pleasure indeed and glad to hear it's working for you! It's such a wonderful browser, and I knew it had to be something simple for you. It really started to bug me that you were having troubles! LOL I knew you were a person with common sense so it wasn't that. Finally it hit me that I had a similar issue. I like solving problems. Glad we worked this one out. I don't use this phrase often, but it's true, Opera rules! LOL

It's a good idea to have a few browsers in case one goes down. I have Opera and Firefox, I like Firefox the best.

One thing I have noticed with Opera, is that when I upload a picture to Kijiji ( an online selling site) the pic takes forever to download, if at all. With FF the pic downloads instantly.
