Windows 10 microsoft edge browser question

Do I have the name right, 'Microsoft edge'? I'm pretty new to it, and have realized I'm not able to go back more than one page when I'm on the internet - ie. when you place your cursor over the 'back' arrow, and right click, it doesn't show a list of the pages you were just on. You can only go back one page. At least I can't figure it out - does anyone know if it's possible? I found it convenient in Internet Explorer. Thanks.

I don't have any problem going back more than one page. I can click on the Back Button one, two, three, four, five times or more. It then takes me back one page at a time! I must of course have gone forward that many pages to be able to go back that number.

BTW, for the time being, you can still use Internet Explorer: Start> All Apps> Windows Accessories (you should find Internet Explorer in the Windows Accessories Folder)!

I can do the same thing too but I miss the convenience of the list of recent pages because (for example) if I wanted to go back 5 pages, I could click once on the 5th page back instead of clicking the back arrow 5 times.

I still have the IE browser, but I also like the edge browser and find it works a little faster with Windows 10 on my computer. I do miss the menu bar, though. Thanks for responding. I should note that I'm the op, it's just my username got changed somehow when I logged on to post my question.

I have not had any luck with the Video CD's using Movie Maker. It could be my computer and/or my DVD player. They play on my computer, but not on my DVD player/TV. I have fantastic luck with the DVD's. I don't know about the SD card - you wouldn't be out anything trying it. I use a third party software (Roxio) to burn the file to DVD. You can pause the slideshow, just like any other DVD, with your remote. Did you know you can change the length of the clip? They don't have to be 5 seconds. Before you create your slideshow - Select TOOLS->OPTIONS-> then set the picture duration. You can also select the transition duration. If you already have your slide show created - you can drag each individual clip (on the Timeline view, not storyboard) to whatever length you want. If you want one clip 10 seconds, and another 5 - it is as easy as dragging them to the length you want. You can expand the view of the timeline by clicking the magnifying glass with the + in it. That makes it easier to edit indiviual clips. When I am finished creating the show - under Step 3 - I select "Save to my computer" -> I name the show ->I select Other Settings...High Quality NTSC. It saves that file in My Videos. That is the file I burn to DVD, using Roxio DVD Creator. It will give you a high quality picture to view on your TV. I have a widescreen HDTV and they look great on it! This step may take a while depending on the length of your show and the speed of your computer. It is a different step than just saving your work (File->Save Project) I do recommend saving your project often while working on it , by selecting File->Save Project. This file is NOT a created playable slideshow - you need to finish out step 3 for that. WMM does tend to lock up if you are low on RAM or have lots of other apps running. At least that is the case with the XP version. Nothing worse than loosing the whole thing when you are almost finished! I would thing MS Office 2007, 2010, and 2013 would most likely work (IMO, I don't think anything older will work). MS Office 365 is the way to go if you upgrade your software often. It's much better than paying $400 - $600 every time there is a new version that's released! This way it's under $100 (each time) but you're always up to date! I've registered for Windows 10 on my New Acer Aspire Laptop and my New Acer Iconia Tablet (both have Windows 8.1 installed). I have yet to register for Windows 10 for either of my Windows 7 computers. My Windows 7 Laptop is an Acer Aspire (Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2.0GHz, 8gb G. Skill RAM and 500gb Seagate SSHD Hybrid Hard Drive, w/Windows 7 Home Premium). My Desktop is an (AMD Quad-Core 3.0GHz, Asus Motherboard, 8gb G. Skill RAM, 3 Seagate 7200rpm Hard Drives = 2.5GHz, XFX 285 2gb Video Card, w/Windows 7 Professional). Then there is my Wife's Lenovo Laptop (Intel Pentium 2.0GHz, 4gb RAM, 320gb Hard Drive). I'm thinking about buying her a New Laptop just like my new laptop.

I kept getting reminders to download Windows 10, I'd say "later". Than last night I got a message that the download would begin in seven hours. I think I had reserved a download way back when. I had heard alot of scary stories so was worried, but decided "what the heck". Instead of putting it off I'd let it go and download. If I couldn't work with it or hated it, I'd take it to Staples and have them remove it. Went away and came back to the timers saying it was 75% downloaded! Ok - here we go. And guess what? Like others have mentioned, I don't see much difference at all! Only the My Picture file, that appears differently but not something I can't get used to. All my other files and programs and even desktop display and icons are right where I left them. However, when I put my camera card into the PC to download photos to my computer, things were definitely different - mainly the file folder where the imported photos go to. I'll have to fool around with it some more to figure out how to do it as smoothly as I could with Windows 7. So far, no problems anywhere else - knock on wood. Plus I don't use my computer for business so I don't have those type of files and software to deal with.

I got a new hard-drive and more RAM in my laptop. At the same time, it was upgraded to Win10. I use Opera and Google. I would use the Edge, except that it's not compatible with AdBlockPlus. I wouldn't be without ABP. I'm trying to upgrade the desktops to Win10. It took a couple of hours to (we thought) install on hubby's computer, but when it was done, it was still on Win7. So I don't know what it was doing all that time. We'd check on it, and it was installing (85% done, etc). I'm going to do it on my desktop to see if I have any problems. He did it from Microsoft's site, so I don't know why it didn't install.

At least in Firefox, you can click in the menu "area" and get the menu bar back. Maybe the same w/Edge.

I played around in MS Edge Setting and couldn't find any setting to change this. In did look in the Internet Setting in Control Panel and didn't find anything there either. I have tried it in IE 11 in Windows 10 and it works just find there!

Beng12 I searched the Internet about the lack of a menu bar in 'edge' but the consensus seems to be that the menu bar option just doesn't exist in the current version of this browser. Maybe that will change as they do more updates?

Bugspop, yes, both of these issues are non-issues in IE, and although IE works just fine on my computer, I also want to use the edge browser. I have Firefox, too - and each one has its good points.

I know this is not what you are looking for, but have you looked at Edge's ctrl-H? It is different than what we are use to. The "Last hour" and "Earlier today" offerings may help you.

DA_Mccoy, I tried ctrl-H, that will work for me! I was wondering if I went to a website whether it would show each page I previously viewed there, and it does - it also shows all the other websites I've been on recently... haven't noticed how far back it goes yet. So thank you very much for telling me about that. :)

Instead of putting your cursor on the back arrow put it on the Edge icon on your taskbar and it will show you all your pages just click the one you want..

aputernut, that doesn't work for me - only shows the current page I'm on... maybe I'm misunderstanding you. mxyplux, yes, that's what I'm doing, and it's working great.
