My patio idea -am I missing something?
Comments (23)I just realized that my post didn't get posted yesterday so I will try again! As I said I am right there with you! I have 12 x 12 covered deck that isn't quite finished yet but I did find an armoire for $35 at the local fleamarket that I painted last year and put up against the house on the deck for storage. I also have a kitdchen island cart painted out there. Dh just got an air compressor so I've bought a paint gun and plan to use a better quality paint on both of them. Just off the deck steps there is a huge patio that we poured last fall for a hot tub. The contractor decided to use up the concrete and it ended up being alot bigger and that put enough room for the hot tub on the other side of the door into the garage. So... I painted an old set of outdoor furniture and put it on there but it just isn't enough and I had gotten the air mattress idea from here and planned to build a daybed like I've seen on HGTV. My dh is not well so it wasn't looking good about getting it done. But he would love a place to pile up out there. After this post, I went to a local antique/thrift store and found a full size iron bed that will be perfect once I either paint it or use a marine grade wax on it. I can't wait to see it in action. The only problem is a cover for the air mattress that will look like it belongs out there. I will try to post some pics over the weekend. I plan to borrow my mom's truck tomorrow and pick up the bed. You encourage me! Alicia...See MoreAm I missing something...
Comments (12)I suspect it's what your husband said. With nothing on paper, if these buyers come back and haggle, there's no contract between you and her agency. If it were me, I'd just tell her that if they do decide on submitting a contract, to give a jingle and until then tell her not to waste her time or yours. She may be playing games with "them". Maybe they felt pressured. I have never had a party submit a contract and ask for it back immediately. That's strange. Comments (7)in the GW lighting forum you can discuss this level of technical detail. Know how to compare light output to power consumption. Light is output in LUMEN, and power is in Watts. For now, learn the difference between those lights that are in the incandescent family, and those that are not. incandescent family = produce heat which you have to pay to remove (with more A/C) = produce light as a secondary output ( a minor fraction of their energy consumption ) = all xenons, halogens, and old fashioned bulbs. = obviously, these will have a higher Watt-to-Lumen ratio than the next group of lights and those that are not. = produce light primarily ( a great portion of their energy consumption ) = therefore do not produce much heat ( so you save money twice, by not producing heat, and not paying to remove it (with more A/C) . ) = LED's, fluorescent slimline tubes, compact fluorescent bulbs. = obviously, these will have a lower Watt-to-Lumen ratio than the previous group of lights In terms of light quality, fluorescents can now produce beautiful white light....See MoreIs this viburnum doing okay, or am I missing something?
Comments (9)I wasn't talking about the color - which probably indicates a need for fertilization* - as much as the firmness of the leaves. Dig around in the original soil ball or mass and look at it before you decide the plant is getting enough moisture. Moderate, but FREQUENT watering is needed for a period from 3 to 6 weeks for plants grown with good nutrition and in RootMaker® containers with air-root-pruning to extend fibrous roots into the surrounding soil far enough to be ‘established’. By contrast, it may require 12 to 24 weeks or longer for plants grown in conventional plastic containers to reach a similar level of establishment. WHY? Because once a soilless mix is removed from a container it goes from holding adequate to excessive water in the container, abruptly, to holding very little water. Water is pulled away from the container growth medium and into the surrounding soil very rapidly due to the greater capillary attraction of the small pores in the soil compared to the large pores in the container growth medium. For the full discussion - based on 50 years of research - see Establishment of Container Grown Plants in the right hand column on this page: https://rootmaker.com/knowledge-center *My experience is that Viburnum tomentosum needs soil fertility levels to be kept up or it discolors like this, will actually soon dwindle away if the situation is not corrected...See Morecaryscott
