Sorry to hear that Gracie! The official UGG website lists every legit UGG retailer (online or otherwise). Supposedly, if a website isn't on that list, they aren't a real dealer. This wouldn't be that 511 site would it?

I'm so sorry that you've been (potentially) scammed! Sounds like it's under control with your credit card company, though. My understanding is that once a charge is placed in dispute status, the vendor doesn't get paid by the credit card issuer, and you don't have to pay unless the matter is decided in the vendor's favor ... and it sounds like it probably won't be.

I am sorry you are having to deal with it. I can say that you could not have a better credit card company behind you. American Express has gotten me out of several wrong charges they are GREAT. One of my charges was through paypal just as yours and American Express resolved everything for me. Don't worry you won't have to pay for it.

We have always had very good support from Amex when dealing with problem purchases. As long as they know right away there is a problem, they tend to work with you nicely! You might also want to contact PayPal so they know about the problem as well. Hopefully, the company is just not good about communicating with customers (maybe they are closed over weekends??) and will be good about shipping the boots. I guess you'll just have to wait this one out :)

FWIW, it's good you used PayPal/Amex for the purchase, not a debit card!

Thank you all! The debit has already been made on my Amex card! I have copied all my correspondences with the company and all the website info. Good idea about contacting Pay Pal. I will do that on Wed. if I do not receive the boots.

Another thing you might want to ask AE is whether you should change the card number. Sometimes scam sites are there to lure people in with popular items and phish their CC info. Worth bringing up if AE doesn't. Sorry this happened!

Sorry to hear of your trouble. I have ordered through Ugg Australia directly with no problems. Although the site I order from offers live chat, I've not availed myself of it. However, I will say from experience, Ugg Australia is not like many other online shopping sites which keep you apprised of all processes after your purchase. LL Bean is one retailer that sends approximately 5 emails by the time you receive your package!

I would definitely dispute the charge. Count me in as another request for the site that you ordered from. I am a frequent flyer on the Ugg Australia site being that I have a DD who is Ugg obsessed!

OK -- So this is Monday and you ordered on Friday. If they were closed for the weekend, they would just be getting your message today -- assuming you did email them? Seems pretty soon to be concluding you were scammed...

Or is there more that would lead you to believe so?

I had a suspicion about a website designer our Marketing Dept had hired and he was indeed a big scam and I found reports of it on this site.

"I did call American Express and they said if I do not have my boots by Wed. they would start the dispute process."

I have two friends where their pay pal account was broken into, so be careful.

OK- This is why I think I have been scammed.The name of the business is "Uggstore"-www.uggaustralia. When I googled it I pulled up other sites that say this site is a fraud and does not deliver the merchandise. Also another site said that they did receive their boots but they were fake! The store says it has a "LiveChat-Online Now" - When I click for help it directs me to the e-mail page. Now an upadate-- I sent the site the notice that I wanted to cancel my order. I did hear back in a strange email from "sunny chang" asking why I want to cancel my order? I replied back to her about my concerns with the business and products and the fact that there is NO phone number for the business.I had a funny feeling about this since I made the purchase b/c when I paid through PayPal my receipt had another strange e-mail address. Is that typical for Pay Pal? ALSO- in small print it says the boots will not come in the box for shipping reasons to save expenses. It states that if you wish to have a box - send them a request. I did that and DID NOt hear back. This whole site has a Red Flag! They made it sound legit with their return or exchange policy , the live chat line (Ha). There is nothing LIVE about this site. I am worried if I do get the boots and we are dissatisfied with them that I will not get my refund. As mentioned above I do believe that Amex will work with me on this dispute.

The site I have always used is www.uggaustralia.com I have never had a problem. Boots/shes come in an Ugg box. However, I never use PAYPAL on any site. If that is the only pay option, I don't buy. I don't know that you have been scammed. While you are not getting alot of attention from Ugg, I have purchased specialty food items from little boutique places that offer neither a phone number or any way to contact someone at their location.

Please post the exact website you were shopping from. If you don't know where you shopped for sure, search your history and it will appear there.

No, that is not Ugg's official website. Just the appearance would have given me pause and I would not have provided any financial info. Your concern is definitely valid.

Whoever wrote that website has some issues with grammar and the English language. Not good news. I'd start the dispute with Amex now.

Just another small FYI...

The "real" UGG website also states that no legitimate UGG retailer will EVER have the name "UGG" in their website name. They don't allow it. You might not be getting 100% scammed, but I'd bet the boots, if received at all, would have been fake.

With all this talk of people's Paypal accounts being broke into that's just not good. How does that happen? I usually select Paypal as an option because I thought it was safe!

shee- no I have never used Paypal. I've never shopped on Ebay either. I have seen some great things that friends and family have purchased on Ebay. Does Ebay accept any form of payment other than Paypal?

I personally like a more straight forward shopping experience. From what I've heard about Ebay, sounds as though there is bidding process? Is that the case with everything on Ebay or only certain items? I love to negotiate when I have my eye on something in an antique shop, estate sale, etc. While I enjoy the negotiating IRL, I don't know that I would do very well doing so online.

I experienced identity theft at holiday time a couple of years ago. That was a total nightmare for me as I felt violated that someone had access to my social security number and other personal information.

I use my credit card for online purchases. The bank that issued my card is extremely vigilent and actually stopped the use of my credit card on the first purchase attempt by whomever it was that hijacked my info. I never use my debit card for online purchases. Perhaps it is not as big of a risk as I envision, but I don't want to go through the whole identity theft horror again.

Amex is great about this sort of thing. Just keep a record of any calls, emails, etc. I also have ordered from uggaustralia.com which is the official site and just recently received an order with no problems. I also never use paypal. Amex is all I ever use online b/c they are so good if there is a problem.
